Duck Cottage, Tuckenhay
Duck Cottage is a superb holiday cottage in Tuckenhay. Located immediately on the waters edge at Bow Creek, a pretty tidal creek off the river Dart between Totnes and Dartmouth. One of the prettiest spots for a self-catering holiday in South Devon. The property is perfect for couples with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as private parking space and private patio. Tuckenhay itself is well served with two excellent waterside pubs and lovely countryside walks as well as being a 10-minute drive from Totnes. Accommodation: The front door opens immediately into the cosy living room, with sofa and armchairs, side tables and TV with DVD player. The exposed beams give the room a real country cottage feel. The far end of the living room leads into to the sunroom, a lovely light filled room with French doors into the patio garden. The sunroom and patio overlook the creek and provide a wonderful quiet spot to read or watch the bird life on the river. The utility room is accessed from the rear of the sunroom, here you will find the tumble drier and freezer. The well-equipped kitchen/diner is at the rear of the property where the classic country cottage theme continues throughout with tiled floor and exposed beams. The kitchen window offers views over the creek and is complete with induction hob, oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The dining table seats four comfortably. Glass sided stairs lead up from the living room to the two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. On the first floor is the first of the two bedrooms, a beautiful room with exposed beams overlooking the water. Furnished with a super kingsize bed (zip and link beds so can be a twin please request at time of booking) and wardrobe. The family bathroom is also on this floor with bath with overhead shower, toilet, basin, and again views of the creek. Up a further set of stairs is the master bedroom with kingsize bed, dual aspect views over the water and en suite shower room with toilet, shower and basin. The house has central heating with underfloor heating on the ground floor. Cot available. Due to the proximity to the water we do not feel this property is suitable for young children (over 12’s and babies welcome). Outside: The patio garden accessed from the sunroom is right on the water and has wrought iron garden furniture this is a lovely tranquil place to unwind at the end of the day. Parking: There is space to park at the front of the property. Nearby: A 5 minute walk will take you to the two great waterside pubs, The Maltsters Arms and the Watermans Arms. Sharpham Vinyard is also within walking distance in the village of Ashprington. Totnes is a 10 minute drive away as is the closest beach, Blackpool Sands. Availability: In the peak season, May, June, July and August we need to keep to Saturday changeovers and a minimum stay of 7 nights. However, please do contact us with any requests you may have and we will accommodate if possible. Out of peak season we don't need to keep to a Saturday changeover. Please get in touch if you need any advice or tips on places to visit, walks (we're right on the South West Coast path), pubs & restaurants etc. Google "Duck Cottage Tuckenhay" to find out more and get in touch.
