‘The Old Cart Shed’ is, as the name contrives, a property fabricated from the structure of an original 19th century cart shed. Rebuilt entirely from the ground up, with only the interior, original wood-beamed structure and lime render walls to belie any relation to its former purpose, The Old Cart Shed is today, a self-contained, brand new dwelling available for short or long-term rental. Modern, airy and sympathetically reconstructed, this self-contained annex to our home boasts an entirely independent setting and entrance and nestles happily in the natural beauty of the Sussex countryside, bordering both East and West sides of the county. It has been lovingly designed and equipped with a full range of contemporary conveniences, whilst retaining its traditional charm. Enjoy the luxury of a warm, spotlessly clean bolthole, with spacious rooms and high, bright ceilings. Underfloor heating throughout means no chilly draughts during the cooler months. Whilst the large lounge patio doors welcome in an airy breeze during the warmer summer periods, plus there is a portable 43-inch oscillating Tower Fan to help to stay cool, should you need it. The lounge and kitchen areas are open plan, separated by a convenient breakfast bar and comfortable leather bar stools. The lounge invites you in with a large three-seater leather sofa and footstool that look outward onto the patio and across the farm fields beyond. For your entertainment, we offer a wall mounted, 55inch 4K Ultra HD Smart Samsung TV and Samsung Ultra HD Blu Ray Player with all available sky channels including entertainment, sky cinema and sky sport packages, BT Sport, Netflix Premium, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+. All TV content purchases are restricted and prohibited, but you can use your own login for Amazon, or request Sky / Amazon Prime Video purchases from us (at the required additional cost). We also have a selection of over 400 Blu-ray and DVD’s available to watch for free, on request. There is full internet access with free Super Fast Wi-Fi – the download speed is around 70 Mbps. Wall-to-wall bi-fold doors (with discreet blinds for additional privacy) take you from the lounge out to glorious, rural views and encourage you to enjoy the delights of al fresco dining when the ambient southern temperatures allow. The patio is equipped with a gas-fired BBQ (gas and utensils provided free of charge) and is equipped with a luxury rattan garden furniture set, comprising comfortable chairs and a parasol. For an additional cost we can provide you with a BBQ meat hamper from the local butchers. Please ask in advance so we can tailor this to your taste. The garden and countryside are full of birds and wildlife and the property lies near many public footpaths and bridleways across the surrounding fields, woods, and country roads. It is not uncommon to witness the local dairy farm’s cows grazing just beyond the boundary! The stylish kitchen boasts everything you need to make your stay seamless. Lighting beneath the cabinets offers a calm alternative to main lighting if required. The kitchen features a double sink, Bosch four-ring electric hob and oven; spacious Samsung fridge-freezer, Samsung microwave, Nespresso Essenza mini coffee machine with Aeroccino, French press coffee maker, kettle, toaster, knife block, iron, ironing board, clothes airer, Bosch washing machine, Bosch dishwasher, Dyson, mop and bucket. The plentiful cupboards stock all the cooking utensils you might need including a range of quality pots, pans, baking trays and roasting dishes; a full 4-piece set of imperial blue Denby dining crockery; Denby placemats and coasters; a 12 piece cutlery set; and a 4-piece set of champagne flutes, wine, gin and highball glasses. We provide washing up liquid, dishcloths, kitchen roll, oven gloves, tea-towels, kitchen foil, multi-surface antibacterial cleaner, hand sanitiser, bin liners and sufficient dishwasher and washing machine tablets to cover a short visit. USB charging points are also available in the kitchen. We stock complimentary tea bags, regular and decaf instant coffee, a selection of Nespresso original coffee pods, sugar, sweetener, milk, biscuits, bread, butter, jam, honey, marmite, salt, pepper, olive oil, vinegar, bottled still and sparkling water and ice. For longer bookings you may need to top these up yourself. Guests of two or more nights will be welcomed with a bottle of traditional Spanish cava! The bathroom offers an enticing, spacious, walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet, sink and spacious vanity unit with a modern interior-lit wall mirror. We provide luxury soft white bath / hand towels and mats, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, hairdryer, toilet paper, shower cap, sewing kit, cotton buds, pads, and balls. The adjacent bedroom has a luxurious top of the range king-size bed offering a sumptuous mattress with infused memory foam layer for superior breathability and temperature regulation. Additional comfort awaits you in the deep quilted topper – all finished off with crisp, fresh, white, quality Egyptian cotton bedding and duck feather quilted pillows. The furniture includes a large wardrobe with plentiful hanging and drawer space, hangers, side tables, touch on/off table lamps suitable for reading and a full-length mirror. The bedroom windows are both equipped with black-out-blinds to encourage that all-important deep sleep. Mobile phone USB charging points are also already built in either side of the bed. High beamed ceilings throughout the property encourage the flow of an abundance of natural light and air and offer a spacious and serene environment in which to relax. The inbuilt lighting throughout the house is all dimmable, enabling you to create your perfect atmosphere anywhere, at any time. The annex is perfect for a romantic getaway for couples/friends who wish to escape their busy lives and relax in peaceful, rural surroundings. The property is fully alarmed and we provide free off-street parking for up to 2 cars. We also offer a self check-in service using a key lockbox, should you prefer that option. Details will be provided before you arrive but check-in and check-out times are as per the house rules. The area is popular for walkers and cyclists and we can arrange secure bike storage for you in a safe, alarmed garage on site. In the event you are not visiting with your own bike, we can recommend rental from a local firm, ‘Country Bike’, who will deliver and collect the bike of your choice. It is fitted with carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and has a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen. For any special requests that might further heighten the enjoyment of your visit, please do ask us and we will try and accommodate you as much as possible. The premises will be completely deep-cleaned and sterilised ahead of your arrival – all floors are steam cleaned and all surfaces are disinfected with antibacterial cleaners to help to minimise any possible transfer of Covid-19. We work from home and are the only people who enter the annex in between guests. The property is all on one level with a large step in and out. For this reason it is not suitable for wheelchairs unfortunately. We do not allow pets, sorry. The property is totally detached from our main house so you will have complete privacy – we are on hand, of course, if you need us. Lindfield is a picturesque rural village with a beautiful central pond and bustling high-street where you can find a local butchers, a variety of hairdressers and beauty salons, tea rooms, delis, boutique shops, a Co-op and post office. Waitrose or Sainsbury’s can be found in Haywards Heath – just a 10-minute drive away. The stunning Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa is in Cuckfield, just 15 minutes away, if further decadence is required! The Old Dairy farm shop is just 5 mins away if you want to source locally produced farm meats, veg, eggs or homemade bread.
