Rural Retreat

Surrounded by chocolate box cottages and situated on a quiet back lane in the heart of a quaint Wiltshire village, The Marr offers generous living spaces with three spacious double bedrooms (sleeps 6) a luxury shower room and separate luxury bath room. The house lies within the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and it surrounded by the stunning countryside of the Marlborough Downs. The property benefits from a fully enclosed private garden and parking for three vehicles. On the ground floor there is a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, and also a separate living room / snug. The kitchen area is fully equipped and includes dishwasher, fridge freezer, cooker, induction hob and microwave (there is a washing machine in an external utility / boot room). The kitchen has all the cooking equipment, cutlery, crockery and glassware you should need for your stay. There is a large dining table, with seating for 8 people. The lounge area is spacious and light with plenty of comfy seating to relax and unwind, and a large screen television. There are bifold doors which open onto the lower garden area, which has teak table and chairs for outside dining (a BBQ is available). There is a further seating area in the upper garden area. There is also a small section of lawn, and an area planted with fruit and vegetables (help yourself to the Strawberries in the season!). The garden is fully enclosed. The separate living room / snug has plenty of comfy seating, a large screen television with DVD player, a PS4, and a log burner (a basket of logs and firelighters is provided free of charge). There is a downstairs WC. Upstairs there are three well-appointed large, light and airy double bedrooms. Each bedroom is dual aspect and contains a chest of drawers, wardrobe and a chair. The master bedroom contains a king-sized bed, solid oak floors, a ceiling fan and an ensuite shower room). There is also a large family shower room (with WC) and a separate luxury bath room (with stand-alone bath which is perfect for a relaxing soak). Free wi-fi is available. There is central heating throughout, and essentials such as washing-up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll and tea towels are provided. A large selection of books, DVDs, CDs, board games and toys are also provided for you to enjoy during your stay. A stairgate, highchair and travel cot can be provided on request. You have the house to yourself, but I will be available by phone to sort out any issues during your stay. It is the perfect location for keen walkers and cyclists, being only 15 minutes’ walk to the Ridgeway and in the middle of a myriad of quiet lanes, bridleways, tracks and trails. The beautiful and historic market town of Marlborough is only two miles away, with its famously wide high street lined with independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Local attractions include the ancient sites of Avebury, Silbury Hill, the Savernake Forest and Stonehenge. Slightly further afield, but still within a 45-60-minute drive are Cirencester and the South Cotswolds, Oxford, Bath, Salisbury, and the New Forest. The nearest main line railways stations are in Swindon (10 miles) and Pewsey (10 miles). Junction 15 of the M4 is only 8 miles away, and Heathrow is a 50-minute drive. There is a private drive, with space for 3 cars.
