The traditional market town of Leek, known as the ‘Queen of the Moorlands’, is a well known centre for the antiques trade and sits close to the Peak District National Park. Enjoy the many dining and shopping experiences on hand in the town and visit Brindley Mill, next to the River Churnet, where corn is still ground or explore the abundant attractions in the surrounding area. Within four miles take a ride on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway or visit Rudyard Lake for walking, sailing, fishing or canoeing. Alternatively for walking and climbing don’t miss ‘The Roaches Rocks’ on the southern uplands of the Pennines. A little further afield Biddulph Grange Gardens, Whiston Hall Golf Club and the famous Alton Towers theme park can be found. At Froghall Wharf in Stoke-on-Trent you can take a canal boat trip on the Cauldon Canal or visit the world famous Wedgewood Potteries visitors centre.
