4* Lux C17th cottage, idyllic village & great pub!
Ruth’s cottage is a gem, found in the pretty & quiet village of Hotham close to Beverley/Hull/York. Beams, Yorkshire flagstone & wood floors, a log burner in the cosy sitting room. A study gives somewhere to play games, read/work. Ruth’s is tastefully decorated in cottage style with Jim Lawrence lighting & country fabrics. Three bedrooms, & 2 new bathrooms are instantly appealing & accommodate a family/up to 3 couples with an extra bed. Hotham Arms’ great for beer/food is less than 2 mins walk. The space is homely & welcoming. If you are looking for a sharp contemporary house, this is not it. That said, the bathrooms are brand new with top quality bathroom suites. The kitchen has a modern twist, working in cool grey with oak units. Throughout the cottage It’s cosy & comfortable, & hopefully we have thought of everything. Why not be the first to try it out? We’ve been in the holiday cottage world for over 15 years so have lots of experience at what makes a good holiday home. All parts of the cottage are open to guests . The cottage is solely for your use during your stay. If possible we like to welcome guests in if we are available. If not, we’re just across the park and are available on landline, mobile and email. We assume you have come on holiday, not to have us interfering, so we won’t! Hotham is a quiet, peaceful village with lovely friendly neighbours, who stop for a chat when you are out walking. The pub is really characterful & the work of the late Jo Parky, who was such a character. It’s not crazy busy, so you can get a pint when you want one. There’s a shop in the next village at North Cave, a great 1 1/2mile walk through the park to get your paper & milk or an ice cream. We strongly recommend a car (or a bike). There’s room for only 2 bikes in the small shed, standing up on end. Your feet are a great asset here! There’s so many lovely walks around the village, & the great Wolds Way is near, so you can enjoy a stretch of that. There’s lots to do very nearby: the North Cave Wetlands for birdlife, Williams Den for children’s adventure play; Drewtons Farm Shop and restaurant; golf at Cave Castle at South Cave; clay pigeon shooting at North Newbald, scuba diving, canoeing, and plant buying at North Cave as well as the car boot sale every Sunday morning; the attractions of Beverley, Hull and York within very easy reach and last but not least, the coast! Ranging between 35 & 55 minutes away: Hornsea, Bridlington and Scarborough. Whitby is a little further but then you see the North York Moors at the same time! *We ask our guests to take care in the kitchen: there’s a small step between the kitchen and dining area and a larger step from the dining area to the sitting room. *The wooden staircase is a good width and not steep as with some cottages. *There are stair-gates at top and bottom. *A starter basket of logs, bucket of coal and kindling & fire lighters is supplied for your first log fire. More logs can be purchased from the farm shop Drewtons, which is just down the road.
