This cosy cottage has incredible views across the Sussex Weald, with Buzzards and Kites soaring overhead, and deer roaming in the surrounding fields . Walk from your front door through ancient woodland to old country pubs, and explore this beautiful part of the South Downs National Park, with Petworth, Goodwood, Arundel, and the South coast nearby Coopers Cottage is a converted 17th century beamed farm cart shed, which has been renovated and furnished to a high standard. It boasts many original features, as well as modern comforts and WIFI, and offers a truly comfortable stay for groups of up to six family or friends. As you arrive you will be greeted by our friendly father and daughter Labradors, Black Pudding and Haggis, and a surprise to welcome you. We have just heard the Cuckoo in April! • Walk directly from the cottage to explore Ebernoe Common Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific interest with 600 acres of ancient woodland, pastures with ponds, streams, and flower filled meadows, and renowned for its rare wildlife, flora, and fauna • Walking through Ebernoe Common brings you to a traditional unspoilt country pub, The Stag at Balls Cross, with a roaring fire in a huge old Inglenook fireplace in winter and a nice pub garden in summer - perfect for a pub lunches and local real Ale after a 40 minute or so walk from the cottage through the woods – we can supply maps! Coopers Cottage is accessed up the farm drive, just past the host's farmhouse, with your own parking outside the cottage garden. There is a brick path up to the cottage front door. We will interact as little or often as the guests would like and to ensure that they have everything they need. • An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with rolling countryside and ancient woodland • We have great country pubs on our doorstep! The Stag at Balls Cross, the Horse Guards at Tillington, the Noah’s Ark at Lurgashall and The Black Horse at Byworth, The Badgers at Duncton and the Angel Inn in Petworth, to name but a few - all are worth a visit! • Walk in Petworth Park, one of Henry the XIII’s historic stag parks, with over 100 acres of beautiful parkland, follies and lakes, and deer roaming freely. Petworth House has magnificent interiors and a famous Turner collection. • Petworth is a small picturesque old market town with an antiques market and acclaimed antiques shops, boutiques, tea and coffee shops, an award-winning deli, and a regular farmers market. • The Goodwood Festival of Speed, The Revival and Glorious Goodwood, Arundel Castle and Wetland Centre, Parham House and Gardens, Polo at Cowdray Park, Bignor Roman Villa, the RSPB Nature Reserve in Pulborough, and the beaches of South Coast are all nearby • Walk the South Downs Way, a stunning National Trail along the magnificent South Downs, just south of Petworth, or The Serpent Trail, a meandering 64-mile marked walking trail through varied countryside from Haslemere to Petworth • Local actor Hugh Bonneville has narrated a film extoling the delights of Petworth and the surrounding area which can be watched on line. The Discover Petworth website has useful information for visiting the town. • Coopers Cottage is just over an hour’s drive from London down the A3 • A 40 minutes’ drive from Gatwick and Heathrow • We would highly recommend having a car • The nearest train station is Haslemere, which is a 15-minute drive, and has fast trains (55 minutes) to Waterloo and Victoria. • The kitchen has an electric oven, an electric hob, a fridge, a dishwasher, and a washing machine, with a table large enough to sit 6 in comfort. There is no tumble dryer (a clothes dryer is available). • The master en-suite bathroom has a bath with a handheld shower and the Family shower room has a shower cubicle. • The bedrooms, the family shower room and the kitchen are all accessed from the hall. • The sitting room is accessed down a short staircase off the kitchen. • All the rooms are on the ground floor. • There is central heating throughout. • We would kindly ask you to bring your own food, drinks, and toiletries. • The cottage is on a farm and at times of the year it can get muddy! We would recommend that you bring wellies! • We have a herd of pedigree Sussex cattle and South Down sheep, two dogs and a farm cat. Please respect the animals and always shut gates. • We would kindly ask you to respect that the host's garden is solely for their family's use. • We are happy to accept supermarket deliveries before you arrive and can put these in the cottage for you We are sorry but we do don’t accept bookings with children • We look forward to your visit and hope you will enjoy your stay at Coopers Cottage!
