Charming cottage by famous waterfall in Gásadalur

'Spógvasmáttan' is one of the 'Múlafossur Cottages' located by the world-renown waterfall in the village Gásadalur on the Faroe Islands. It is only a 10-20min drive from the only airport on the islands, shops and cafes as well as some of the most astounding Faroese sceneries such as Drangarnir, Tindhólmur and the lake Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn. We promise a truly magical and secluded place, with sights of sheep, birds and highland cows - all nestled by the river that leads down to the waterfall. For many years we - the Lauritsen Family - have dreamt of having a small community of traditional looking wooden cottages - a place for people to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Gásadalur. We currently have four cottages: 'Tjaldurssmáttan', 'Lundasmáttan', 'Spógvasmáttan' and 'Ternusmáttan' that were built in 2020-21 by the family-owned company: (Website hidden by Airbnb) While the cottage is small and cosy it comfortably houses up to six people. There is a sofa in the living room downstairs that can be turned into a comfortable sofa bedroom, and the upstairs loft has two bedrooms, each with two single beds. You will need to climb one set of stairs to reach the upstairs bedrooms. It truly is a place for everyone: families with kids who want to play in the river and friendly surroundings, couples who want to unwind and spend quality time together and adventurers who want to hike and explore. Included in the package deal are wifi, bed sheets, towels and kitchen and bathroom essentials. There is unfortunately not yet a washer dryer on the premises. We request bookings of minimum two nights. Finally, there is a 500DKK cleaning fee on top of the total amount. You will have private access to the entire cottage. There is free parking on the premises. It is completely up to you how much you wish to interact with us - your hosts. You will be able to access the keys on the premises and do not need to be in contact with anyone. However, should you need help with anything, we're only a 10 minute drive away. The final road leading to the cottage is fairly rocky, but it is possible to reach your final destination by car - parking spots are outside the cottage. It is completely up to the individual how they wish to travel around the islands. Most people rent a car at the airport, but some people travel by bus or hitchhike. However, there is very limited public transport to this remote village, so we recommend renting a car at the airport. There is a guest book in the cottage that will give you further information about the cottage as well as different tips for travelling on the island Vágar. Please let us know before arrival if you need a travel cot and/or highchair for your child.
