Highfields B & B, unique central Skipton locationD
PLEASE NOTE Cleanliness is very important to me. I now use the sanitising product Edge Protect to clean hard surfaces. I have removed surplus soft furnishings. I can leave breakfast out to reduce contact if you so wish. Highfields has an elevated position in central Skipton with panoramic views over rooftops and the Airedale Valley. The house is on the edge of Skipton Woods, is private and yet just 3 minutes walk from the town centre. There is ample parking and we are family and dog friendly. The location is quiet and private so you really feel you are in the countryside, yet you can walk to the shops and many good eating places within 3 minutes! The bedroom is furnished with antique and vintage furniture and a king size Victorian iron bed with a super comfortable memory foam mattress! There is a TV/video player and selection of DVDs. The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower, WC, handbasin and luxury towels. Being a cyclist myself we welcome cyclists, walkers and anyone wishing to explore the idyllic Yorkshire Dales. We will be on hand with any information you need to help plan your day and make your stay as enjoyable and easy as possible. There is ample parking and we are family and dog friendly. Bikes can be stored in our garage if necessary. During the week breakfast will be a choice of home-made granola, cereal, eggs, croissant or toast. At weekends however we offer a full English breakfast as well with locally sauced sausages and bacon. It would help if you let me know of any dietary requirements when booking. Guests have the benefit of their own private dining room. Guests have a separate entrance into the private dining room from which there is access to the bedroom and en-suite bathroom. Guests are welcome to sit in the outside area at the front of the house or on the patio area at the back, depending where the sun is! Please note we also have a twin bedded en-suite room adjacent to this one which is listed separately. We will endeavour to be here when you arrive. Although 4pm is the official check in time, please let me know if you wish to arrive earlier and we will see if we can arrange it. You may park your car in the drive way at any time before then. You may contact Sally at any time by mobile during the day. We will serve your breakfast at any time up until 9.30am. There is an abundance of things to do in and around the market town of Skipton, 'Gateway to the Dales', voted by the Sunday Times as the top town in their list of 101 places to lives in 2014. We have many amenities and places of interest on our doorstep including Medeival Skipton Castle, the Leeds/Liverpool canal, Craven Museum, various sports clubs, a swimming pool, park and cinema. It has a thriving High Street with many independent shops and a great choice of eating places from quirky cafes to excellent restaurants, all within walking distance. There are several events around Skipton including Grassington Fertival, Yarndale, Art in the Pen and the bi-annual Puppet Festival. There is also a weekly Park Run. For children who need to let off steam we have Hesketh Farm and the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream farm, both 5 minutes drive away and the awe-inspiring Brimham Rocks 30 minutes away. Also of note is the beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate owned by the Duke of Devonshire. There are many walks around the estate - a climb up to Simon's Seat being one of them where you will be rewarded with magnificent views. Another lovely, low level and wheelchair accessible walk is along the river passing the Ruins of the Augustinian Priory. The estate is particularly stunning in the autumn. For walking and both road and mountain biking enthusiasts the Yorkshire Dales offers unparalleled scenery and variety of routes. There is also horse riding, golf and fishing near by. If you prefer to explore further afield then Harrogate, Ilkley and Settle are all within a 30 minute drive. The bus station is 5 minutes walk from the property, serving The Dales, Ilkley, Harrogate, Keighley, Settle and surrounding areas. The train station is just 10 minutes walk. Leeds/Bradford airport is a 30 minute drive.
