La Chataigneraie offers excellent accommodation and facilities with a combination of gites, apartments and chambres d'hotes (B&B). Units can be booked separately, or combined to offer flexible accommodate for groups of any size from 2 to 28 people. Located in the Languedoc region of the South of France, Sahorre is in the heart of the Pyrenees, half way between the ski resorts and the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean - about 40 minutes in either direction. Tres Estelles is a 2-bedroom apartment named after Le Pic des Tres Estelles - the peak of the three stars - which you can see from the windows. It is located on the first floor of the main house of La Chataigneraie and offers fully independent accommodation, combined with the benefits of all the other facilities La Chataigneraie has to offer. It has one double bedroom and one twin room (which can also be made up as a double) making it ideal for families or one or two couples. There is a large sofa-bed in the lounge. It has a newly fitted, well equipped kitchen with full size oven, ceramic hob, microwave and dishwasher. A newly fitted bathroom with "his 'n' hers" sinks and shower. The lounge/dining room has a super view of Tres Estelles. You can enjoy a daily delivery of freshly baked bread right to your door. Our friendly local boulanger, Michel, offers baguettes, croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and a tempting array of artisanal breads. We place an order each evening and it is delivered, often still warm from the oven, in time for breakfast each morning! If you prefer, you may also book breakfast as an additional extra and have your choice from our continental-style buffet. You have a choice of patios and terraces with gas barbeques at your disposal. Tres Estelles is thoughtfully equipped with a "barbeque kit" in a basket, including unbreakable plates, glasses, salad bowl, jugs and BBQ cooking implements making it easy to enjoy the outdoor life. La Chataigneraie has a swimming pool (11 x 4m) , gym, boules court, games room, library and of course, the all-important wifi. Extensive lawned areas offer plenty of space for an informal game of football or rounders, whilst also enabling guests to enjoy the peace, tranquillity and breath-taking mountain views. We have a couple of bicycles for guests to use free of charge along with higher-spec mountain bikes for a small charge to cover running costs. There really is something for everyone! It has central heating making it suitable for holidays all year round. It is a scenic 15-minute walk through orchards and alongside the river to the local village bistro where the owner offers excellent home-cooked local produce with a 3-course "menu du jour" costing round €16. She also offers great take-away pizzas! Along with the bistro, Sahorre has a handful of small shops and you can buy local produce direct from the farms. The famous spa town of Vernet les Bains is 2 miles away, with a supermarket, petrol station and a wider selection of shops, activities and restaurants. A couple of minutes in the car, or an enjoyable hour's walk up and over the ridge with magnificent views of Mount Canigou and the Rotja Valley. This stunning area is steeped in culture and history with several of France’s most beautiful villages within a short drive. You can explore the ramparts of the medieval walled town of Villefranche de Conflent, just 7km away, or visit the spectacular hillside village of Eus - officially the sunniest village in France. If you enjoy walking we would challenge you to find a more beautiful or varied area anywhere. There are many miles of wonderful walks directly from our house, but within a short drive you can be exploring mountain lakes, precipitous gorges, snow-capped peaks and sun-drenched coastal paths. A paradise for sports enthusiasts with a huge range of sports and activities available nearby – from mountain biking to white water rafting – even the most active family could find a different activity for every day. Wildlife parks, caves, historical monasteries and of course, no visit to this region would be complete without a visiting a vineyard and sampling the glorious Languedocian wines! If you prefer to simply relax by the pool, the area is renowned as the sunniest in France with a glorious 300 days of sunshine every year. What are you waiting for?!
