The house named 'Kirmoitalo' is located in the center of Salla, small town / municipality in Lapland, Finland. As we proudly say: "Salla - in the Middle of Nowhere" and "Beautiful by Nature". We are surrounded by the arctic lappish wilderness and vast forests with numerous lakes and rivers. The town is located approx. 40km north from the Arctic Circle. We offer accommodation on hostel-type of premises for 16 persons. 8 private rooms / 16 beds, of which one is a family apartment with 2 rooms and 3 beds (rooms 5-6 combined) . Separate kitchen with a dining room, lobby area in hallway, sauna, two showers and four toilets in shared use on the 1st floor. Grill cabin with open fireplace is outside on the backyard. Free car parking. You can book a room for one or several nights, weeks or months as you wish. Breakfast and lunch & dinner services are optional and available at request on separate pricing. Some rooms are also equipped with a television, private refrigerator with freezer or ice box, microwave oven, coffee machine, electric kettle and a hand-wash basin with a water tap. Kitchen is well-equipped and in shared use 24/7: refrigerator & freezer, stove, microwave oven, toaster, two coffee machines, electric kettle, dish washing machine. Kitchen utensils, accessories and basic sets of supplies (coffee, tea, sugar, salt, oil etc.) are available. Dining room has a table and chairs for 6 persons. In the lobby area there is also a dining table, sofa and television. The host is not living on this house, but at a very close distance. We will provide our guests a telephone number on which you can reach us at any time, if you have any questions or need advice. THINGS TO SEE, TO DO & TO EXPERIENCE Come and see the northern lights - aurora borealis - the season is now! SERVICES: The house is located nearby the small town center. Two grocery stores and two restaurants, few shops, bank, library, museum and Salla Tourist Info office - all are within a 10-15min walk from the house. SPORTS & NATURE: In Salla you have Salla Ski Resort nearby at just 5min (10 km's) distance - and three others at a short 1 hour driving distance (Suomu, Pyhä-Luosto and Ruka-Kuusamo). Enjoy trekking & hiking, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoe trips, winter fatbike mountain biking, reindeer and husky safaris as you like. There is a spa, SnowLounge, bowling alleys, indoor ice hall, sports hall, mountainbike / fatbike rental service and excellent network of marked hiking tracks within 5 min driving distance from our location. We have 160km cross-country skiing tracks of which 43km are illuminated. NATIONAL PARKS: There are four national parks within just 1hour driving distance from Salla (Oulanka, Riisitunturi, Pyhä-Luosto, Syöte). The border crossing on road to Russia is located at 22 km from the Salla town center. Public transportation: Distance to Kuusamo airport (100 km), Rovaniemi airport (150 km) and Kemijärvi train station (65 km).
