The noises around: The only noises you will be invited to hear are those made by the birds, the wind in the leaves and the village children running on the fields close by. Sometimes, a tractor drives on the village road to carry hay, but the noise is not strong. The surroundings: Right next to the house, there are other gardens, orchards, and fields of green. Herbs and plants: If you know the indigenous plants used in medicine, you will find here a paradise. Pick as many as you like and may them bring you and the ones you give them to, loads of healthy days. You have access to the whole house and the (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) mp garden. Making fire anywhere on the property is absolutely prohibited for obvious reasons. Acces is from the village asphalt road, going up 80 meters, on a moderate hill of country road (no asphalt for now). Parking is possible 10 m from the house, if it hasn't rained. If not, parking is available on the village road and you will walk 80 meters up and 80 down. I like to give the guests privacy but also if they want to meet me and discuss tiny living, I enjoy answering their questions and sharing a tea or a glass of wine, if my time allows it. I travel a lot, also. The village Gura Râului - means Boca del Rio, or "The River's Mouth" and it is called like that because the village has a huge dam that provides the county of Sibiu with water. And not any water, but a very tasty one. The houses It is a traditional village, with kempted, well taken care of houses, clean streets and surroundings. The nature The place in itself is surrounded by spectacular pre-mountainous views with foliated and resinous woods and the air you will breathe in here is loaded with forrest perfume and sweetness. The people Are mostly 100% Romanians. With (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) inhabitants, Gura Râului has 700 children, and three schools. The locals are busy as bees, growing rich vegetable gardens, cattle, pigs and sheep. What is special There is the right time for everything here. The right time to take the sheep flock to the mountain, the right time to bring them back into the village. The right time to cut the wool. The right time to harvest. To rest. To chat and to rest. The Orthodox calendar plays a big part in the life of the locals. On Sundays, especially on religious holiday, the locals will dress up in the national costumes and go to church. No exceptions. Healthy foods You can buy products from the locals. Cheeses, milk, butter, bread, eggs, veggies, meat...everything is produced here and tastes like poetry. The price you pay is the same as those from the supermarkets, although the products here are worth more, as they are organic. The agriculture here is done mostly with horse and cattle droppings and locals are not found of "industrial chemicals".
