The Jungle is a peaceful self-contained one-bed barn conversion in the grounds of our village house. It takes its' name from the colourful collection of animal curios we have collected and will delight anyone with a sense of fun and adventure. Guests have commented that the property is much larger than the photographs suggest. Once an old barn 'The Jungle' has been converted into a self-contained one-bed apartment comfortably sleeping 2 people. The kitchen/living/dining space has a beautiful full length window overlooking our exquisite garden and double doors to the sunny courtyard with access to your very own secret garden. The spacious bedroom with super-comfortable double bed has a narrow staircase to the mezzanine bathroom with a separate loo on the ground floor. It's a magical space in a unique setting at the foot of the South Downs and the perfect spot for serious walkers and lovers of the great outdoors. The Jungle is self-contained and well-equipped. The kitchen has a dishwasher, fridge and freezer as well as an induction hob and oven and a great selection of kitchen utensils and gadgets. There is a TV and free wi-fi, although this can sometimes be a little slow. The outside areas are shared with us but guests are welcome to use the secret garden for their own private use, just as we will use the rest of the garden for ours. In the summer a table tennis table is at your disposal (if we're not using it) and you'll be challenged to a tournament if we're around. We like to leave our guests to enjoy the privacy of The Jungle but we can be on hand if required. Wilmington is a peaceful friendly village with a church at one end of The Street and a pub at the other. It sits at the foot of the South Downs, overlooked by The Long Man of Wilmington, an ancient chalk figure. There are endless beautiful walks either following the South Downs Way or meandering through the villages of East Sussex. A car is recommended although Polegate mainline station is just 2 miles away (£10 taxi ride) with twice-hourly trains from London Victoria taking just 1hr25. It is possible to walk to other nearby villages including Milton Street and Alfriston where you will find pubs and cafes. There is a local bus or train to Eastbourne or driving takes 15 minutes. Lewes is a 20 minute drive or 10 minutes by train from Polegate. Parking is free on a first come, first served basis in the village. We can supply a 'welcome pack' of local produce for a small charge - please enquire when booking. The property is equipped with OS maps, books of walks and other local information.
