Self contained cottage with its own front door. The open plan living area has a comfortable 2 seater sofa, 32'' TV, fully fitted modern kitchen with complimentary tea, coffee & milk and a dining table and chairs. Smart TV, a range of books, maps and games plus free wifi are included. A useful store off the lounge is ideal for suitcases, coats and shoes. The double bedroom and modern shower room are accessed via an open tread staircase from the living area. Luxury shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and soap are provided along with soft fluffy towels and high quality bed linen. Guests can access a free, private, off road parking space that is directly adjacent to the cottage. There is a small flagged garden outside the cottage complete with table and chairs for your morning coffee on sunny days. For those wanting a cooked breakfast without the work, a local cafe 2 minutes walk from the cottage gives discount to our guests. We have also negotiated other discounts for local amenities that are detailed within the welcome pack on arrival. Check in is from 4.00pm onwards and check out is 10.00am. Earlier check ins and later check outs may be possible depending on availability, so please ask if this is something you would like to request. Guests will have access to information via email, phone and direct contact during their stay if they wish. We live next door to Thornes Cottage and can be on hand for guests who want to know more about the local area or who have questions during their stay. As access is via a key box so that guests can have as much privacy as required . Huddersfield provides an eclectic mix of traditional and modern. It showcases an impressive legacy that includes award winning Victorian architecture, the ancient Iron Age Castle Hill monument (3 miles) and a range of cultural and social activities for all visitors. Local Artist Ashley Jackson with his gallery in Holmfirth and outside art exhibition brings to life the local landscape and art lovers can indulge themselves at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park (6 miles) described as ‘art without walls’ and the Iconic Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield (12 miles) For those who prefer two wheels, cyclists and mountain bikers can enjoy the challenging route across Holme Moss (12 miles) made famous by the Tour de France or the various routes across the district that sit alongside the Huddersfield Narrow Canal (3 miles), the Blackmoor Foot reservoir (8miles), the Spen Valley Greenway (6 miles) and the National Cycle Route 68 that winds through the Holme and Colne Valleys. Thornes Cottage has great commuter links being just 5 miles from Junction 25 of the M62 and 8 miles from Junction 39 of the M1. It is 3 miles from Huddersfield Train Station which provides trains between Manchester (40 minutes), Liverpool (90 minutes), Leeds (20 minutes) and York (45 minutes). The nearest bus stop is a 5 minute walk away with the 231 and 232 buses providing transport to Huddersfield Town Centre and Wakefield City Centre. There is a shop and pub within walking distance, and a wider range of local supermarkets, petrol stations, cafes, garden centres, and takeaways all within a short drive or taxi ride. Thornes Cottage is located on a private road in a quiet hamlet, in relatively close proximity to other cottages. As such it is suited to couples and solo travellers seeking tranquillity. Due to the residential location parking is limited to cars only-no vans You can step outside of the front door and immediately be in open countryside for walks and fresh air or soon be in reach of Huddersfield Town Centre and neighbouring cities of Leeds & Manchester.
