‘Home from Home’ Woodside Barn is a charming, 2 bed, 2 bath property, positioned behind a gated and secure driveway, right in the heart of Melbourne, Derbyshire. Situated on the edge of the National Forest, Melbourne is a small, busy Georgian town, that oozes atmosphere and warmth, renowned for its history, restaurants and bars, country walks and great transport links. The detached barn features a vaulted ceiling with large double height front windows and oak stairs leading to the 1st floor. Once inside, you will see beautifully decorated, luxury, open plan living accommodation with underfloor heating, a spacious kitchen diner and a cosy living room. There are 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms and the accommodation can sleep up to 4 people. On the ground floor the kitchen diner has bi-fold doors leading out to a private lawned garden with patio and seating area, and there is also a back door leading to a further lawned area. The kitchen/diner features an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine and a large fridge freezer. The living room is well equipped with a ‘log burner’ gas fire, Freeview TV, a DVD player, and plenty of DVD’s, books and games to keep you entertained. There is also a downstairs toilet with a large ‘walk-in’ shower and heated towel rail. There is an open oak staircase leading to the first floor where there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The master bedroom has a Kingsize bed and the second bedroom features two ‘zip and link’ single beds, which can be converted to another Kingsize bed, if required. The bathroom has a bath and a shower and an additional heated towel rail. There is private parking behind a gated area for 1 car, but further on street parking areas are available next to the property. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and free Wi-Fi are provided throughout your stay. Tea/coffee, sugar, milk and squash are provided ready for your arrival. A high chair can be provided if required (please request prior to arrival) We live next to the property so we are on-hand should you need anything. There is plenty to do in the Georgian market town of Melbourne and the property is situated within a 5 minute walk right into the centre, where there is an array of local amenities. The local shops include ladies and children’s clothes, bridal wear, florist, shoe, electronics and repairs, sweets, antiques, gifts and jewellery, craft, delicatessen, butchers, bakers, newsagents, wine, cakes, boutiques, beauticians, hairdressers, stationery and print, vehicle repairs, pharmacy, opticians and many more. The town also has a number of excellent restaurants, some a La Carte, and others serving local pub food, as well as some great cafes and takeaways. There is a post office and 2 ATM machines within walking distance. Visitors come to see the sights, including the parish church - described as a "a miniature cathedral" - and to see it’s the gorgeous setting next to Melbourne pool and Melbourne Hall. Thomas Cook was Melbourne-born and started his travel empire from here by selling train excursion tickets; they flattened his birthplace in 1968 but the memorial "cottages" in the town centre remind the visitors of where he started out. Nearby are two stately homes, Calke Abbey - a historic National Trust Property, with walled gardens and an orangery, set with a 600-acre nature reserve, and Melbourne Hall - home to Queen Victoria's first Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne, who also gave his name to Melbourne in Australia. The house has roots dating back to King Charles 1. Staunton Harold Reservoir is within a 5-10 minute walk and here you will find a good activity play area for children, a café and beautiful countryside to explore. There are numerous other sites and stunning countryside to explore in and around Melbourne. The accommodation is situated near to excellent transport links, including East Midlands Parkway Train Station (10.5 Miles) and East Midlands Airport (5 miles). There are also regular bus services to the surrounding areas.
