Sugarland Farmhouse
Sugarland Farm is located at 210 Sugarland Way. It was built as a large family home in 2011. It is a 5700 square foot French country home on 12.5 acres that is only 12 minutes to the interstate and approximately 15 minutes to the WVU Health Sciences Center campus and Football Stadium. The farm has goats and chickens to watch as you enjoy the countryside. The farm is at the end of 1/2 mile of gravel road and beyond the farm is hundreds of acres of mountainside. Guests can use the main two stories of the house but not the basement since it is reserved for storage and farm use. The basement is unfinished. Guests have access to the entire house with laundry, patio, and there is a rough fire pit. If possible, you may want to bring some camp chairs or let the owner know if you need camp chairs. There is outside seating for 18 on the patio. We live in Morgantown and have had all 5 Star ratings on AirBnB for guest responsiveness. We do both work. Laurie is a professor at WVU and Pat is an engineer but we have some flexibility. The house is on 12.5 acres but neighbors are visible. There is a catch pond down over the hill from driveway where you may see frogs and tadpoles. Black berries and raspberries grow on the land and can be picked by tenants as they desire. They usually are ripening in early July. There is a swing set with slide and sandbox also. The last 1/2 mile if road to the farm is gravel and does have turns and hills. You need a car to get to the farm and we recommend all wheel drive at a minimum if it snows. The road is traversed daily by regular cars. Taxis and Uber’s do drive to the farm but personal vehicle is best. You must not exceed 10mph on the gravel road to the farm. This road is maintained by the owners and neighbors and has camera surveillance for littering and speeding. This is very important because small children, deer, turkeys, rabbits, and sometimes pets can be seen on this gravel 1/2 mile of of road. It is beautiful but drive slow please. Be careful if it snows. Morgantown is home to WVU sporting events and many arts events. It has been ranked one of the best small cities. We are relatively close to activities like white water rafting. At night at Sugarland, you will hear owls, frogs, and other wildlife. The goats and chickens are maintained by the owners but farm eggs may be available with advance notice.
