The Tool Shed. A brick shed at Moorland Farm.
The Tool Shed is a brick built shed with a vaulted internal roof. It is a self-contained unit with bedroom and en-suite shower/toilet/basin. There is a small unit containing a kettle, toaster, mini-fridge and mini-microwave; this is suitable for preparing drinks, warming up a take away etc (i.e. it is not a kitchen). Outside there is a private, walled and gated PATIO equipped with table, 2 chairs and a chimenea. SIZE: This was a small, working brick shed for the farm and now the space is approximately: courtyard 6x3½m, bedroom 4 x 2½m, shower room 2½ x 1m. The BED is double sized. HEATING: For cold weather there is an electric radiator for the bedroom. This heating is most effective and efficient if left permanently on, at a modest temperature setting (e.g. full on setting: 18ºc mild weather, 23º very cold weather). PLEASE do not cover or obstruct this device. In the bathroom the light doubles as an infra-red heater. DOG: A single, house trained dog is most welcome to stay in the Tool Shed. There is an enclosed courtyard which we think would be very helpful for you and a house trained dog. Please keep your dog on a leash when elsewhere, thank you. There are plenty of quiet and pretty country lanes nearby for walks. ACCESSIBILITY: The Tool Shed may not be accessible for some disabled people; there are steps going up to the building and a loose gravel driveway from car parking. But mostly the difficulty could be the very small entrance doorway. Oh yes, please mind your head on entering and exiting. LARGER GROUPS: Adjacent to The Tool Shed is The Milking Parlour which sleeps 2+1 (i.e. it has a bed plus a large sofa) and has a lounge area and kitchen. So if you wanted to stay here with, say 4 adults plus one child or baby (i.e. 2+2+1), then a double booking might suit you very well. SIGNAGE At the bottom of the drive there is a sign 'MOORLAND FARM' KEYS On the key ring are three keys: 1 x barn door, 2 x padlock keys for drive gates. The two gates are locked after dusk. PARKING Guests have their own PARKING space for two cars (follow THE TOOLSHED sign). FARM Currently we are not permitting exploration of the farm and wildlife areas. Sorry. We are usually out and about on the farm should you need support. We are located just 7 miles from Lincoln city centre offering the best of both worlds – a quiet space out in the countryside yet close enough to the city for you to visit the city’s attractions. There are amenities such as pubs, shops, pharmacies, food take outs in two nearby villages, 2 and 3 miles away. With Covid restristrictions it is best to pre-book these. The location is also great for walking and cycling. Getting to Lincoln city takes about 20minutes by car and getting to beaches takes about 1 hour. There are also the Lincolnshire Wolds to explore; perhaps Englands best kept secret? The Tool Shed is within the curtelage of our small farm. It is very quiet, very rural and very beautiful in our opinion. Driving: An ordinary car will get you to our location. And it is the best way to get around here. Lincolnshire roads are less busy than many other parts of the country which makes for some nice motoring trips around Lincolnshire, especially the Lincolnshire Wolds and various beaches Buses: The nearest bus stops are 2 miles away. Buses go to Lincoln city, Sleaford and some neighbouring villages. Train: The nearest stations are Lincoln and Metheringham. You will then need a taxi from these stations. Cycling and Walking. This is an excellent place to stay to undertake these activities. NB There is a disused railway near here which is a great way to cycle into Lincoln, or to take you out to villages and eventually to Sleaford CHIMENEA: Please bring your own wood, fire-lighters and matches. Use at your own risk.
