Hvolsvöllur Fljótshlíð South coast Iceland

Our place is close to Hvolsvöllur, Fljótshlíð, Vestman Islands, Þórsmörk, Eyjafjallajökull, South coast, Hella, golf course, Rangá and fishing ponds. You’ll love our place because it is cosy, the hot tub and the amazing view. There is a deck around the whole house. The house in a peaceful, quite place where you wont be bothered by others. There is amazing view from the house over Eyjafjallajökull (volcanic glacier famous for the eruption in (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) , the south coast too the Vestman Islands. It is stunning to view the Northern lights from the house or the hot tub when it is dark since the house stands high and there is no lights disturbing. Guests are free to use the hot tub. The hot tub and the washing machine might be closed during winter (1 November- 15 April) because of the frost. The last part of the road is not operated during winter and might therefore be covered with snow and impassable by car. Guests might therefore have to walk the last part of the road to the house during winter. Children love the place, they can play free outside. Icelandic berries (krækiber) grow wild in the land / garden. Guest are welcome to pick them and eat them. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a dish washer. There is a gas barbecue grill outside on the deck. The house has an official permit to be rented out, registration number HG (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) We are more than willing to help you and give you advice and tips before, during and after your stay. There are lot of interesting places to see near the house e.g. Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Vestman Islands, Þórsmörk, Þjórsárdalur and Hekla. It is also excellent to take day tours to the Golden Circle (Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir), Jökulsárlón, Vík, Reynisfjara, Landmannalaugar etc. There are also two golf courses, geothermal swimming pools and fishing ponds nearby. For those that are interested in the Icelandic sagas the house stands in a very historical place, by Hlíðarendi where Gunnar in Njálssaga lived. The surroundings of the house is the scene of Njálssaga. You can take day trips by car to: •Reykjavík •Golden Circle (Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvöllur). •Jökulsárlón (glacier lagoon, around 270 km away) •Vík í Mýrdal oReynisfjara / Kirkjufjara / Dyrhólaey (the beach) is very dangerous since high waves come very suddenly and catch people to the sea. The ocean currents are very strong. The beach is infamous for its sneaker waves and strong currents. Unfortunately tourists have been killed there by the waves, so please be careful. •Fjallsárlón. •Vestman Islands (you can see Vestman Island from the house), the ferry is not far away but you might have to book in advance (Website hidden by Airbnb) •Landeyjasandur (the south coast). •Seljalandsfoss. •Skógafoss, Skógar museum and Museum of transport. •Eyjafjallajökull erupts museum. •Gluggafoss. •Þórsmörk (you can take bus from Hvolsvöllur) •Swimming pool heated with geothermal water in (Hella, Hvolsvöllur or Selfoss). You can take a walk from the house: •Take a walk up the hill behind the house. The view is even greater from the hill. •Take a walk to the church that is below the house (Hlíðarendakirkja) (Website hidden by Airbnb) •Take a walk to Nínulundur (close to Hlíðarendakirkja) (Website hidden by Airbnb) and (Website hidden by Airbnb) •If you are interested in the Icelandic saga then it might be interesting for you to know that Hlíðarendi where Gunnar lived in the Njála saga) is just by the house (where the church is). The neighbourhood is therefore the setting/scene in the Njála Saga (Website hidden by Airbnb) •Walk or drive to Stóri Dímon (Big Dimon) and walk to the top (178 meter high). The view from Stóri Dímon is great. Stóri Dímon stands between East Landeyjar, Fljótshlíð and West Eyjafjöll. (Website hidden by Airbnb) There are public transportation from Hvolsvöllur which is 15 km from the house. Please note that during winter 4X4 jeep with big tires is recommended since the last part of the road is not operated and can be covered by snow and ice. The house is in a nice private quiet place and has hot tub.
