4WD required in winter. In the summer or fall, the road is easy to navigate. If you savor a true mountain experience, you will love my home sitting at a highest point in Redstone Ranch Acres just 1 1/2 miles south of the village of Redstone, CO. Magnificent views soothe the soul as you sit on the generous deck around the fire pit gazing at the surrounding peaks. The apartment is on the lower floor while the host occupies the main floor. Accommodating up to 8, guests have their own private suite, including private bedroom with a double bed, a large living space with queen bed, electric fireplace, couch, overstuffed chair, coffee table, a new 42” Roku TV with Netflix and other streaming services as well and a DVD player and large selection of family friendly DVD’s, mini refrigerator with freezer, Cuisinart coffee maker (and a variety of complimentary drink pods supplied), microwave, hot plate and skillet, blender for smoothies and yet another large living space with double bed and futon bed/couch. Guests may use the washer and dryer while here. In addition, there is space inside the garage for one car. The owner occupies the upper part of the house. The downstairs apartment is dog friendly for dog(s) house trained, non destructive and friendly with people and other dogs. There is a extra fee charged of $10 per dog per night. This will be paid direct to the host before leaving the premises. Garage space for car, laundry room with washer and dryer, large deck with lounge chairs and fire pit, side patio with table and chairs. I will generally be available to interact, answer questions about the area and help make reservations if desired. I am 1 1/2 miles south of the small village of Redstone, 11 miles north of Marble and 18 miles south of Carbondale at mile marker 50 on HWY 133. The home sits high off the highway up on the side of Hawk Peak surrounded by red cliffs with thousands of aspen, Ponderosa Pine and Colorado Blue Spruce. The sound of water rushing in the Crystal River below creates a soothing background for evenings lounging on the deck, sipping wine around the fire pit table and gazing at a million stars in the night sky. A vehicle is a necessity and if you desire to see some of the more remote scenery, 4WD or AWD is helpful and will be necessary in the winter to get up to the house depending on the snow conditions. Please note there are no gas stations past Carbondale unless you make the trip over McClure Pass to Paonia which is forty miles pass Redstone. If you plan on driving much after you get to Redstone, I recommend coming with a full tank of gas. I have dogs who are friendly as well as two cats - any of which may may be out on the deck socializing with ‘their’ guests. Two of the dogs are especially vigilant regarding wildlife which are common in the neighborhood. You may see deer, fox, wild turkeys and an occasional elk or bear. Watching the hummingbirds competing at the bird feeder is an especially entertaining way to pass a cool summer evening around the fire pit.
