When you are searching for the perfect place for your family holiday or to celebrate happy occasions with friends ,you rarely find anywhere that is as ultra comfortable, lovely, and well equipped as your own home. If so, welcome to La Grange ! HOW MANY CAN IT ACCOMMODATE? It is capable of accomodating up to 10 grown ups ,with its 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms , and its open-plan ground floor , with comfortable seat ing for 12 around the log fire ..The 12 seater dining table can be laid with tablecloths and napkins , crystal and silver candelabra for special occasions .The same numbers can be accommodated on the outside terraces in fine weather.There are 4 double beds 2 single beds and 2 travel cots for very young children In the separate Library/ TV ROOM there is a large “ smart “Tv linked by satellite to all UK stations and 100s of other channels , Netflix ,and to YouTube .There is a DVD player and 100s of DVDs and an XBox for the young.The Library also has all the non fiction books- history , travel, biography- while the fiction is kept in the bedrooms There is original art work - water-colours, oils, prints- on virtually every wall ;and Persian rugs on most of the floors.. just like at your own home! The Marantz sound system with Blue tooth gives excellent sound quality and can be switched to speakers outside on the main terrace .There are 100s of CDs( jazz opera pop and classical ) to choose from The oilfired central heating keeps the house warm in winter ;and the thick stone walls ensures it is cool in the heat of summer . On arrival, you will find all the basics already there in the Welcome Pack , flowers in vases , the log fire laid , and the whole place immaculately clean and cosy ,and above all , in these strange times ,safe . La Grange has been a much loved English holiday home for many years . After total redecoration , recarpeting and refurnishing in Spring 2020 ,it is now available again . It must now have the most comfortable beds and seating of any gite in Normandy ! La Grange was a tumble down old barn , with a corrugated iron roof ,when it was found .But it was converted very ingeniously by English and French architects into the most convenient and congenial of small country houses. Over the years it has become the most agreeble of holiday homes It is in an utterly peaceful ,ruralsetting ,surrounded by fields, yet is only a 5 minute bike ride from a string of sandy beaches and Barfleur, one of the prettiest little fishing ports in France( buy fish , lobsters and mussels straight off the boat)The wellknown fishing port and marina of St Vaast ,with its big Saturday Market and delightful restaurants , is a 10 minute drive away There are tennis racquets, golf clubs, jigsaw puzzles, Monopoly, Scrabble, a card table and a chess too. ..and of course a set of Boules There is also free and ultrafast internet, internet radio, and a landline ( with telephones both upstairs and downstairs )for making restaurant reservations(lots to choose from)or just phoning home. Outside there is ample scope for outdoor living on the terraces near the house. At the top of the safe and secluded garden ,there is a summer house for balmy summer evenings ,with a second BBQ ,and an all-weather table tennis table . There are 12 bikes( including 2 electric bikes )all free for you to use ; and parking for 4 cars . La Grange is well served by Brittany Ferries with year round ferries to Cherbourg and Caen . Utah Beach is 30mins away, Bayeux is less than an hour, and Mont St Michel an easy day trip (90 mins )by car.Paris is a 4 hour drive We have owned ,and shared this lovely )and much loved) house with friends for over 30 years . We all adore it .. and so will you! (Cleaning fee for a shorter stay or a smaller group will be reduced proportionately).
