The Barn at South Manor Farm is a four bedroom, two bathroom, luxury, spacious, Country home just outside Bramfield, on the Suffolk Coast. This beautiful barn conversion dating from the 16th century is set in four acres of garden and fields, it is a wildlife haven and completely remote. Surrounded by nature, and only four miles to the sea, at Walberswick, Dunwich and Southwold, it is perfect for a peaceful holiday and for writers, musicians and artists to find inspiration. A large kitchen opens into a dining conservatory which seats eight. An upright Yamaha 3 pedal piano is situated further inside this room. Two wood burning stoves can be found in each of the sitting rooms downstairs, one that overlooks a duck pond, the other contains a writing desk. In a nearby studio barn there is a gym, yoga studio and drum kit. Outside the studio there is a mediterranean garden with a large hot tub, available at your request. There are two summerhouses for reading and quiet times. The garden consists of two ponds, (filled with water from the borehole) over 300 trees including Willow, Oak, Ash, Beech, Fir, Yew, Ginkgo, Hazel, Maple, Olive and many exotic and local plants and flowers. There are also fruit trees: Cherry plum and Victoria plum, which are laden in the Autumn. The site is a Great Crested Newt Sanctuary, and they can be seen in the greenhouse. Three fields border the property, where you can often see Rabbits, Hare, Fox, Squirrels and Deer. Perfect for picnics and football games. Many birds make this their home including Owl, Kestrel, Pheasant, Heron, Partridge, Moor Hen, Coot, Robin, Chaffinch, Blue tit, Pea Hen. You can feed them, and watch them from the kitchen, because there are ceiling to floor glass walls facing the garden. There is ample parking for up to eight cars. There is a large range of books, films and music, wifi for your use and garden chairs and blankets as you require. The garden is not treated with chemicals. We are a Vegan household and provide muesli, teas, coffee, condiments etc. I can arrange private yoga lessons and Reiki or Shamanic healing as you request. These sessions will take place in the home studio. There is a tumble dryer, washing machine and dishwasher. We live both here and in Spain, although this is our part time home we want you to feel as at home as possible. Do ask if you have any special requirements or wishes. I will be available on the phone or in person should you need me. I am a highly experienced host and have been made a Superhost 3 times over :) This is the perfect place from which to explore the Suffolk Coast, it's fascinating history, and beautiful beaches. Walberswick, Southwold, Darsham and Minsmere are all nearby for day trips to the sea. The nearest town is Halesworth which is four miles away and contains a theatre, library, chemist, Co-op supermarket, post office, weekly market, cafes and restaurants. Southwold is also great for shopping, chips, donuts, and has a beach and pier. There is an amazing open air theatre in the woods, one mile away at Thorington. The nearest station is Darsham and it takes 2 hours by train via Ipswich from Liverpool Street, but do book tickets before the day of travel as it is much cheaper. The nearest shop is The Two Magpies Bakery and Cafe, they serve pizza on Friday between 4pm and 8pm. White Post Farm is a mile away and sells wonderful, honesty-box organic veg outside. There is a Jet garage with a range of goods and food two miles away. South Manor Farm is accessed over a level crossing. Please make sure you call the station master from the phone provided and ask for permission to cross and remember to close the gates afterwards. There are three rescue cats who live at South manor Farm, they are very private and keep themselves to themselves. They have access to the utility room, however they are fed at a neighbouring property and you may not see them. The cats have had a hard life and have retired here from Hackney. Thank you for your kindness to them. If you keep the utility room door shut the cats won't be able to enter the house at all. It is completely up to you. We are surrounded by countryside and fields, and as a haven for wildlife, of course there are insects. This is natural and good! We welcome bees, and plant flowers to attract them. We leave the house absolutely spotless for guests, and ask you to consider this when leaving your review. The odd spider or fly may make an appearance, please be understanding. We do not expect you to do the cleaning, but please leave South Manor Farm as you found it. We operate a “leave no trace” policy within the four acres. There is a strict cancellation policy in place, please do make sure you and your guests can come before you confirm your booking. There is a check in time of 3pm, and it is not possible to arrive earlier, due to the cleaning team preparing the house. There is a lenient checkout time of midday, and we ask therefore, if you could be conscientious about leaving by then. It is not possible to stay later due to the cleaning team arriving.
