3 Ebenezer is a cosy and attractive 19th Century cottage, located in the beautiful village of Westleton and has a combined bath and shower for up to 4 guests. There is free parking opposite the gated entrance on the road. It is also within walking distance of 2 charming pubs, a well stocked village shop, 2 bookshops, Westleton common, footpaths, forests and heaths. The beach is only 3 miles drive away. Other popular Suffolk villages, towns and attractions are easily accessible from Westleton. 3 Ebenezer Cottage would be well-suited to families, walkers, pet owners (2 well-behaved dogs allowed) cyclists and those looking for a romantic break. There is also a travel cot and highchair(s) available for smaller guests. Please note that this cottage is about 170 years old (it was built in the 1850s) so a little dust may appear during your stay, especially during harvest time, and there might be the odd spider arrive your stay! Guests have access to the whole cottage. It also has an enclosed patio and grassed garden space at the back of the property perfect for BBQs and relaxing in the warmer months. The back garden area is quite well sealed to leave a dog outside during the day, as long as the gate is shut at the end of the pathway entrance. You are normally able to get a free parking spot somewhere along Yoxford Road, outside the cottage. There are 2 nice village pubs, serving great pub meals, within easy walking distance of the cottage, called "The Crown" and "The White Horse." There is also Westleton Common about 10 mins walk from the cottage, which is perfect for dog walking and jogging. We will try to meet and greet all guests on arrival to run through a few things about the property and check that you are happy with everything. We live 2 miles away so are very happy to sort out any problems or questions that you might have during your stay. Westleton is set in a landscape of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within the parish lies the internationally renowned Minsmere Bird Reserve, owned and managed by the RSPB. Westleton Heath National Nature Reserve and parts of Dunwich Forest also lie within the parish. The majority of the 500 or so inhabitants live close to the B1125 Blythburgh to Leiston road, the remainder living in scattered cottages and farmhouses in this otherwise agricultural landscape. The Village Hall and St Peters Church are the focal points of village activities, whilst the White Horse and The Crown pubs are the main social centres. The parish of Westleton is bounded by the parishes of Dunwich, Darsham, Middleton cum Fordley and Theberton cum Eastbridge. The placename Westleton (or Westledestuna as it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086) is believed to derive from the Old Norse Vestlithi (a personal name) and Old English tun i.e. Vestlithi's homestead. Public transport is fairly limited from 3 Ebenezer, Westleton, so a car is the best method of transport. There is a nice, nearby walk to Westleton Common which takes about 15 minutes from the cottage. Please note that there are fairly steep and narrow stairs leading up to the 2 bedrooms and bathroom, so care will need to be taken especially when supervising young children going up and down the stairs. The gate at the entrance of the cottage leads out onto a village road, so upmost care must be taken to prevent young children or dogs from running out onto the road.
