Situated in the centre of Normandy a great base to explore everything Normandy has to offer La Vieille Ferme is an 18th Century farmhouse in the centre the village of Fresné-la-Mère, just 4km from the historic town of Falaise (the birth place of William the Conqueror) within the Calvados region of Basse Normandy. The property was a working farm until the early 90s and since then has been converted to a 5 bedroom Chambre D’ hôtes,(Bed and Breakfast), boasting 2 acres of land that guests are free to enjoy at their leisure. The days of it being a working farm might be over but a few farm animals still roam "Free range" throughout the grounds and you may even see some ducks and geese enjoying our small lake. For those of you that do not already know, the French term "Chambre d’ hôtes" is not just a French translation for bed and breakfast. It is about being welcomed into the family home as a paying guest and probably originates from the times when farmhouses rented out their rooms to subsidize their incomes during hard times. We hope to offer you this traditional idea of being welcomed into our home combined with all the privacy and comforts of your own private suite, guest lounge, conservatory and garden It is important to us that you feel relaxed and enjoy the house and gardens, but secondly have the privacy of your own ensuite room that is spacious enough for you to really enjoy. La Vieille ferme is run by ourselves (Su and Peter Stevens) and we live in an apartment within the house with our two children. We moved here in June 2009 from just outside of London in England and we bring with us over 25 years of experience within the Hospitality Industry.
