Situated on the edge of the Peak District National Park with stunning views over the surrounding countryside, this 17th century 4 bedroom cottage is the perfect getaway for families, hikers, mountain bikers and dogs. With dozens of popular walks and trails right on your doorstep, this is an ideal base to enjoy a more active break. Equally, the house is perfect for those seeking rest and relaxation, courtesy of the tranquil setting and picturesque backdrop. The spacious house is completely private and has been finished to a high standard so you can enjoy a relaxing break whether you choose to stay indoors or go out. The 4 bedrooms provide ample room for up to 8 guests and are comprised of three doubles and a twin room. The downstairs bedroom can be configured as a double or an additional twin. Please let us know if you have a preference and we will arrange for his to be set up for you. All bedrooms are elegantly furnished with comfortable beds and boast spectacular views over the local countryside. There are two luxurious bathrooms. The main bathroom features a large walk-in shower and a corner bath. There is a second bathroom on the ground floor with a shower and WC. The lounge features a large wood burning stove so you can sit back and get cosy with a good book in winter months. Or if being online is more your thing, we've got you covered there with Netflix and Disney+ on all TVs and fast wifi throughout the house. The kitchen is the heart of the home bursting with country charm and provides a large dining area and a log burner to make family meal times extra special. The space is well equipped with all the crockery and utensils you are likely to need and has a fridge freezer, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and dishwasher. A separate utility room provides all the essentials for your stay; containing a washing machine, airer and ironing board. To the front of the house the old porch makes a great place to sit and take in the breathtaking views and enchanting wildlife that passes by. We are regularly visited by pheasants, hares, deer and birds of prey. Sometimes even the odd owl will come and perch in the garden. Outside there is a spacious garden separated into two areas, with the top area fenced to allow dogs to run freely. You will have undisturbed access to the whole house. Depending on other bookings we can be flexible on check out times. There is ample for parking for up to 4 cars. We provide a key safe to enable guests to check in at their convenience. Your hosts will be available to contact over the phone during your stay and the housekeeper lives nearby, so if there are any issues they will be dealt with quickly. The local village has a great range of eateries and activities to try. Enjoy a teacake and a cuppa at the cafe overlooking the reservoir. You can also hire rowing boats or try your hand a fly fishing. The nearest pub is just a five minute walk away and serves cask beers and home cooked food. Further into the village there is a cake shop which offers a range of homemade cakes, treats, fresh bread and gifts. There is ample parking for up to 4 cars accessed via a private driveway. The local village is a 5-10 minute walk away and has good bus routes into Manchester and the surrounding area. The bustling town of Glossop is a 10 minute drive away and the picturesque spa town of Buxton is reached in just over half an hour. However the main attraction is the multitude of country walks and trails on your doorstep. Step out and explore Swallows Wood, Devil's Bridge, Seven Falls, the Longdendale Trail and the Trans Pennine Trail to name a few. COVID-19 Policy: In the unlikely event the UK government imposes further lockdown restrictions and we are unable to host your stay, please rest assured we will issue a full refund. Alternatively you can get in touch to request to move your booking to alternative dates. Dogs: Up to 2 well behaved dogs are allowed. Please note there is an additional fee of £25 per dog which will be collected before your stay.
