Our unique mountain hideaway is conveniently located about halfway between Santa Fe and Albuquerque, in the Jemez Mountains with a spectacular view of Guadalupe mesa. A natural light show each morning as the light descends, lighting up millions of years of the history of this magnificent landscape. A place of quiet and wonder, of beauty and invitations to explore. Minutes away from the burgeoning art center of Jemez Springs, and an eon away from the work day worlds left behind. It’s been called a jewel box of a home with spectacular views of the mesas and valley below on two acres in the Jemez Mountains, and close to the Santa Fe National Forest. An ideal retreat — quiet, private, and with great neighbors on an unpaved road and easy access from Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Works of art are in every room — with nature’s art outside of every window. The center living-area features an open floor plan with a fireplace and with breathtaking views of the mesas and the river valley and cottonwood trees below and also access to the tranquil Japanese garden. The fully equipped talavera-tile kitchen adjacent to the patio includes a dishwasher, toaster-oven, microwave, and all the appliances, cookware, and cooking essentials you need and with coffee, assorted teas, and even fresh herbs. Step outside to dine on the patio with a charcoal grill and magnificent views. There’s also a patio fireplace when seasonally needed. French doors in the Mesa View bedroom open onto a deck onto which you may slide the full size bed and fall asleep to the sounds of the river in the valley below with the Milky Way overhead. Next to the bedroom is the Mask and Garden room which includes a small desk, computer and printer, a small library and selected pottery and paintings by local artists. And the home features a traditional Japanese six-mat tatami room that opens onto the Japanese garden and becomes a bedroom at night with air mattress. Like being at a traditional Japanese inn. Enjoy a soak in the outdoor hot tub with stunning views day and night or relax in a classic butterfly chair as hummingbirds and butterflies visit you. We are always just a phone call or e-mail away and can be reached anytime. While you may find it hard to leave this private, peaceful space, the surrounding National Forest and village offer unlimited hiking, exploration and even hot springs. Nearby attractions include Battleship Rock, Fenton Lake, The Gilman Tunnels, a quaint village with several restaurants and a riverfront park. A great selection of guidebooks we have collected for you will keep you busy or just ask ... we can custom-tailor a tour for you.
