The Pommard House holds a special place in the village as it was the residence of local respected winemaker Jean Michelot, whose family has lived in Pommard since the 1600’s. The house itself dates back at least 200 years earlier than that and is finished with slab stone floors, ancient beams and carved, solid oak staircase. It is located on the edge of the village with views over famous vineyards; Pommards finest – ‘Rugiens’, and ‘Clos de la Commaraine’, made famous by Thomas Jefferson, who particularly favored the 1785 vintage.
