Cottage on the Green
My old stone cottage is a quiet respite in a wooded setting with multiple gardens and stunning views. If you love art, books, music, and a vintage vibe, this is the place for you. You’ll love the privacy of having your own 3 room suite which includes a bedroom with a queen size bed, another smaller bedroom with a trundle bed that sleeps 2, and a private bath, all upstairs in its own private space. Serve yourself breakfast in my kitchen or enjoy a Nespresso in your room to start the day! Guests have their own private 3-room suite. The larger bedroom has a walk-in closet with hanging space, a dresser, and a Nespresso machine with all the accouterments. The bathroom has a a glass tiled shower and an old claw foot tub if want to enjoy a good soaking bath. The third room is a smaller bedroom with a trundle bed that sleeps two. Perfect for anyone traveling with children or friends with whom you'd share the bathroom. Great light and views from all 3 rooms and total privacy from the rest of the house. Guests are encouraged to enjoy my living room with it's extensive library and huge fireplace - perfect for a cozy winter day - or enjoy the gardens with it's lovely views and outdoor bistro settings. I have a regular morning routine, so won't expect to interact much beyond morning pleasantries. Evenings are a time when I like to relax with a glass of wine or cocktail outside and am always happy to have guests join me if that fits into their schedule. Afternoon aperitivo sometimes happens as well. I spend a lot of time in DC, so have opinions on everything, just ask me! My house and neighborhood have a very unique history - too much to describe here, but a great conversation over a glass of wine. I love sharing this special place with others. I am approximately a 15 minute drive from both the Glenmont and Rockville Metro stations so getting to DC is very easy if you're not driving. I do provide Metro cards for my guests to make it even easier. I have a huge, U-shaped driveway that can accommodate several cars, so parking is easy - just watch yourself on the cobblestones! I have 3 friendly cats who like to interact, so if you're a cat person, you'll probably enjoy their company. I do however, keep them out of the upstairs suite. One important note to guests is that my house is old and quirky. The cobblestone driveway is uneven and bumpy, so I say this as a caution for anyone arriving after dark or wearing high heels: please be careful! Also, the stairs leading up to the suite are narrow and twisty. It's well lit and there are banisters, but again, caution required!
