A lovingly restored, 15th century barn in the pretty village of Brayton, 1.5 miles south of Selby. Private and self-contained, the barn offers luxurious, modern accommodation with a large outside space and impressive views of the nearby medieval church. Easy access to the M1, A1, M62 and A19 with good transport links to major locations such as York (14 miles), Leeds (24 miles) and other destinations make it a relaxing and ideal base to unwind and explore the beautiful Yorkshire surroundings. The barn is in an idyllic location hidden away down a small, quiet lane away from the road yet within walking distance of everything you need. The impressive Grade 1 listed medieval church that stands opposite dates as far back as the Norman times and has wonderful architecture. Why not enjoy a cup of Yorkshire tea or glass of wine in the garden whilst gazing at the impressive view? We have taken time to lovingly restore this listed barn, it is decorated and furnished beautifully to highlight its light and airy features, whilst also making the place feel modern and cosy. Ideal for a romantic get away for couples. Living Area Comfortable high-quality sofabed which will give both a place to relax and a place to sleep should you need the extra space. However, we love our area and enjoy eating out, drinking, walking and cycling so we would be happy to make any personal recommendations for the local surrounding areas. Brayton is a friendly Yorkshire village with a warm and sociable community. There are two local pubs within a short walk. The nearest grocery store is 5 minutes’ walk away. There is a wonderful farm shop 5 minutes drive away which sells locally sourced meats, pies, vegetables and gifts. The local butchers sell freshly made pork pies which we believe to be the best in Yorkshire! There are wonderful riverside, woodland and countryside walks and cycle routes from the door. Selby The barn is located just 1.5 miles from the historic centre of Selby. The central attraction of Selby is the 11th century Abbey, birthplace of Henry I. Selby offers numerous shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and a weekly market. Selby Town Hall is a great live venue in the area for music and comedy. The transport links from Selby town centre are fantastic and you can easily get to Leeds, York or Hull as well as many other destinations by train or bus. The Trans Pennine Trail is an exciting route for walkers and cyclists which runs entirely on surfaced paths and gentle gradients. It runs largely along disused railway paths and canal towpaths. The route from Selby to York is approximately 16 miles and is well worth the effort. York The beautiful, medieval walled city of York has an outstanding past. The quality and range of historic buildings and monuments make it one of the most interesting and important historical places in the world. It has excellent tourist attractions as well as boasting a wealth of fantastic pubs and restaurants. There is a bus stop located five minutes away which takes you to the centre of Selby in around 10 minutes. If you prefer it is a flat, easy 35-minute walk. Selby bus and train station has many buses and trains covering the local area. York, Leeds and Hull are all easy to get to within 25 – 45 minutes. The bus to York leaves every 15 minutes from Selby centre and drops off in the heart of the city of York close to Clifford’s Tower, York Minster and the Viking Museum to name but a few. We are conveniently situated approximately 15 minutes away from the A1, M1, and M62. With easy access to the A19 which is 5 minutes away you can be at the York park and ride (15 miles away) in around 25 minutes Leeds, Harrogate, Knaresborough Howden, Beverley, Hull, Yorkshire Wolds and the Yorkshire dales are all within one hour’s drive. The beautiful Yorkshire coast is within an hour and a half drive. We want you to know that we’re doing our part to help our Airbnb guests stay safe by cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces (light switches, doorknobs, cabinet handles, remotes, etc.) before you check in.
