Artistic Manor House Living

Indulge fusion of history, creativity, quietness by spending your days and nights at Rucka manor house. The manor and surrounding park sits right in the center of Cesis city - famous for its rich history and vivid cultural life. Over the centuries the manor house has served as a family estate, railway office and even a hospital. Nowadays it is an artist residency, so you will be staying in premises that are at other times busy with creative people. Rucka is very busy with creative summer schools during the season, but we are opening our premises to selected guests during the quiet months. You can see and feel the creative spirit of the place in every step you make around the estate. The house is more than 300 years old and offers lots of space with more than 100 square meters of common areas at the disposal of guests, a large outside area and large park surrounding the house. We offer to our guests stay in one of upper floor rooms with high ceilings, wooden floors, historic furniture and amazing park view anywhere you look. Though, in the city it is amazingly quiet and calm. The bathrooms and kitchen area are shared. Cesis is one of Latvia's most charming medieval towns. The house is located just 10 minutes walk from Cesis Old Town, which boosts a vivid cultural scene, including a concert hall, art galleries, museums, and numerous festivals. Enjoy local boutique shops, various (and good!) restaurants and coffee places. If you are looking for outdoor recreation, Gauja River with numerous nature trails is just 10 minutes drive away (or can be reached on foot in around 40 minutes). There you can rent a boat or raft and enjoy the romance of the Gauja River or enjoy the nearby ski resort and tennis court depending on the season. The closest grocery store is about 5-7 minutes walk and plenty of other grocery stores can be found in and around central part of Cesis. Cesis is well-connected to Riga thanks to updated roads and frequent train and bus schedules. It will take you around 1.5 hours to reach the capital city.
