Summary: Renowned for its appearance on the BBC television series ‘Grandpa in my Pocket, Seahorse Cottage is one of the most recognisable ‘cottages’ in Aldeburgh. Its unique Scandinavian-inspired design is a haven of free-flowing light and airy open space, far away from any traditional holiday cottage. Outside of the property you can enjoy views – from both the balcony and terrace – of the Moot Green, 16th century Moot Hall, as well as the beach, sea and some spectacular sunrises. Open plan kitchen/living /dining area with fireplace - fully stocked kitchen, vintage dining table, breakfast bar with stools, sofa and armchairs with television. Rear hallway - deceivingly large, ideal for storage. 'Grandpa's' Bedroom - single / twin  or a double configuration (The double configuration does make the room quite tight!) Shower room - shower cubicle, basic, WC, heated towel rail Utility cupboard - washing machine FIRST FLOOR Landing - storage options Master bedroom - super king bed, double doors leading to balcony Family bathroom - full size bath, basin, WC, heated towel rail OUTSIDE First floor balcony with sea views Ground floor terrace with sea views Main Description Whilst its iconic namesake has echoed throughout generations, today Seahorse Cottage is far-removed from it’s dainty origins. Following an extensive remodelling in 2017, the interior now radiates light via it’s free-flowing, airy open spaces throughout. An old English cottage that emanates Scandaniavian design ideals arouses a particularly unique experience not often emulated anywhere across the British coastline. Meticulously designed to prioritise potential drawings of light, the rays bounce off the white washed floors and rafters and trickle into every nook and cranny leaving no sign of darkness in this beacon of minimalist luxury. Decadent but unpretentious, the doors of Seahorse Cottage welcome all to bask in the uncompromising Eastern seascape on it’s balcony and terrace. Find utility in the intelligently selected furnishings; the narrow bench placed inside the entrance hall, the trundle bed in the second bedroom offering multiple occupancy configurations. Just some examples of the clever use of space, maximising function but never compromising on the vision of the open escape. A bolthole for the endearing or a kindred nest at the seaside, Seahorse Cottage is truly a canvas for the ideal Suffolk Break. Guest Access: You can park in front of the cottage however it's restricted to two hours during the day so do check the notices for exact timing. Alternatively there's free parking in front and behind the White Lion Hotel (again be sure to check in case things change). You can park at the church car park on the way into town and leave a donation in the box. There's free parking at Kings Field, fourth exit off the roundabout at Tesco as you get into town, it's a track rather than a proper road and opens into a big car park with fields and playground. The Neighborhood: There is always something going on in Aldeburgh from the gorgeous carnival in August to the documentary film festival , literature festival , lots of art exhibitions and the wonderful music festival in Aldeburgh and Snape all year round. Other Things to Note: Please let us know how you would like the 'twin' room made up. A. Single B. Twin C. Double When you get into the cottage there is a manual with all kinds of information about the cottage - how the heating works, where the washing machine and hairdryer is stored ... You can use the sheepskins in the master bedroom to sit on the balcony - please put them back and don’t leave them out overnight. Enjoy our beautiful art and art books - we keep the cottage immaculate for our visitors, so please take your shoes off and handle the pretty little house with care. Aldeburgh has fantastic fresh fish stalls directly opposite on the beach . Try the Lighthouse for a brilliant supper, or a great Italian or THE BEST fish and chips. There is a wonderful cinema on the high street, l minute away from the house , as well as a brilliant book shop directly opposite . There is always something going on in Aldeburgh!
