Approached via a small, enclosed garden, Percival's retains the charm & simplicity of the original building. On the ground floor is a modern bathroom with over bath shower & double bedroom. Upstairs is open-plan with feature beams, a well-equipped breakfast kitchen & cosy sitting area with log burner. Located at the eastern edge of the Teesdale village of Mickleton, with views East and West to the valley of the Tees and surrounding hills, Percival’s is a light, spacious converted stable situated in the yard of a grade two-listed farmhouse and working smallholding. The farmyard provides a dedicated parking space and the possibility of storage for bicycles. The cottage is approached via a small, enclosed garden with a table and chairs and retains the charm and simplicity of the original building. On the ground floor, either side of the hallway, are a spacious modern bathroom with over bath shower and a ground floor double bedroom, suitable for a couple sharing and babe in arms (cot available on request). Upstairs on the open-plan first floor with feature beamed ceiling, is a well-equipped breakfast kitchen, with small table and chairs for meals and cosy sitting area with log burner (a fire can be lit for your arrival in winter months). The cottage was last the home of a bibliophile and archaeologist and we have retained many of his extensive selection of books. It has been sympathetically renovated and recently redecorated. The village road carries dales traffic to and fro and Mickleton and is served by public transport. We have two local pubs within a short walk, our favourite, The Crown, serving particularly delicious food with friendly service. Percival’s is perfectly placed for all kinds of excursions, whether you wish to walk, cycle, ride, canoe, or fish. There is immediate footpath access to the Teesdale Way, and this, in turn, can lead to longer walks, on the Pennine way or in the surrounding hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. Or visit High Force, a spectacular waterfall, surrounded by the stunning countryside of Upper Teesdale. A variety of animal and plant life can be seen throughout the seasons, from a vast array of wildflowers, ferns and towering trees, to roe deer and rabbits. The nearby historic market town of Barnard Castle, is just 8 miles away, with its many cafes, antique shops, galleries and the internationally renowned Bowes Museum, or, simply put your feet up in front of the fire and relax. Percival's is a self contained cottage, situated in the yard of a working small holding, you will have access to the whole property and private enclosed garden. Located in a peaceful rural village 2 miles from Middleton-in-Teesdale and 8 miles miles from historic market town Barnard Castle - Dominating the moors to the south side of the village is the Scots-Pine-covered tumulus of Kirkcarrion, one of Teesdale's major Bronze Age burial sites. The farmyard provides a dedicated parking space and storage for bicycles. Public transport links are close by with the bus stop situated a 2 min walk away - taking you to local historic market town of Barnard Castle and beyond. We respect the privacy of our guests, but note that the property in situated in the grounds of a working small holding and family home, there may be the occasional noises that accompany this idyllic rural setting or persons going about their day.
