Welcome to our three-bedroom apartment on the ground floor of our house in Svalbarðseyri village. Located on the east side of Eyjafjörður fjord it is only a 10-15 minute drive from Akureyri town. The location has an amazing view over the fjord and great conditions for seeing aurora on winter nights and beautiful sunsets. Explore by taking a stroll around the quiet village, take a hike up Vaðlaheiði moor or jog along the seaside. Ideal for big families or group of friends, the apartment is spacious and sleeps up to 8 guests with three bedrooms, a kitchen and a completely new bathroom. Board games and Lego Duplos are available in the hall. A travelling cot is available upon request. You are welcome to use the garden, shared with us. In the summer there is furniture on the patio and you may grill or roast marshmallows on the outside fireplace. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, fridge, freezer, pots and pans and utensils, cleaning supplies, as well as basic cooking items such as salt, pepper, cooking oil, sugar and wheat. The bathroom has a washing machine, dryer and laundry detergent for you to wash your clothes. All bedrooms have closets. You have the whole apartment to yourselves. The apartment is on the ground floor and we live on the top floor. We live on the top floor and are usually available. We are happy to talk to you about what you could do during your trip. Please do not hesitate to contact us. Svalbarðseyri is a small seaside village, only a 10-15 min drive from the town of Akureyri. The village has a school, church, museum and a small swimming pool open in the summers. North of Svalbarðseyri, in Grýtubakkahreppur there is the church and turf house in Laufás (15 min drive), Polar hestar offer horse back riding tours (17 min drive), and Kaldbakur Tours offers tours up the mountain of Kaldbakur on snow cats in the winter (25 min drive). More places around Eyjafjörður are The Christmas garden which is open all year around (20 min drive) and the Beer spa (40 min drive), there are a few swimming pools and various whale watching tours. The North-East of Iceland additionally has great sights such as Lake Mývatn (1 hour drive), Goðafoss waterfall (30 min drive), Dettifoss waterfall (ca. 2 hour drive) and Ásbyrgi Canyon (ca. 2 hour drive). In Húsavík there are various whale watching tours available as well as Geosea Geothermal Sea Baths (1 hour drive). A car or a bike is necessary to get to Svalbarðseyri village. No public transport is available to Svalbarðseyri. The village is a 12 km drive from Akureyri.
