There is great walking, running, fishing, cycling, mountain biking, climbing & golf all on our doorstep with good views from the house of Bamford Edge, Win Hill & Shatton Moor. If you are a group of 3/4, do get in touch as we have a second room The Old Stables is a beautifully converted Coach House dating from around the 1860's and has been tastefully updated retaining many original features in the spacious rooms. Upstairs (on the landing near your room) there is a small seating / table area which you are welcome to use. In the summer (and winter if you are very hardy!) you can relax in the garden, where we we have a number of different seating areas. As well as your own room which has tea and coffee making facilities, you are welcome to make use of the breakfast room cum library. If you are planning on bringing bikes, that is no problem and we can provide you some secure space in the garage for them, we just ask that you let us know in advance. If you are interested in cycling you can hire quality bikes at the nearby bike shop in Bamford, or over at Fairholmes at Ladybower We can provide you with lots of information on things to do in the local area and have plenty of guide books, maps, etc.. for you to borrow if you are new to the area. Bamford is very well served by its local community pub (The Anglers Rest as featured on BBC's Countryfile - January 2020) and cafe serving great food and drink from early to late, together with regular entertainment to include quiz nights, bands, open mic nights. There are 3 churches in the Village and the local Bamford Institute has a regular timetable of events to entertain you. Up and down the valley are a range of other pubs and restaurants to choose from if you fancy a change of decor! Getting around couldn't be easier, if you've come by car we have plenty of private off road parking and with bus stops a few yards away and the train station just a short walk down the road, you have lots of options if you want to leave the car behind and head out into the hills straight from the door on one of the many nearby footpaths. Check in is after 4.00 pm up until 8.00 pm, however if you cannot arrive during this period do let us know and we will see what we can work out. Departure is by 10.00 am please but if you need to leave a bag for a while longer, do let us know and we will try to arrange this. The Old Stables is centrally located in Bamford on the Main Road and although we are set back a little from the main road, from time to time (normally early morning / tea time), there is some traffic noise mixed in with the bleating of the local sheep! A breakfast of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, tea, coffee (incl. decaf) and juice is always available for you to help yourself to, we just ask that you clear away afterwards. However if you fancy a 'Full English' the Rest Cafe a couple of hundreds yards away will fulfill your needs!
