Oxton Hill Hideaway is a fabulous self contained shepherds hut located on our 80 acre farm. With its own private garden the hut has an ensuite bathroom and kitchenette. Use the bridle paths on our farm which link to Southwell and neighbouring villages or visit the historic Minster town of Southwell. Bring your bikes as you can cycle for miles, bring your horse too or just enjoy the walks. We also offer carp fishing in summer. A stylish hotel room in a hut! Adults only. Our hut includes a wood burning fire, fridge, kettle, crockery and utensils. Bed/sofa (double). Bedding and towels are provided plus soap and shampoos. There is a stock of essentials including coffee, tea, sugar, salt n pepper, cereal and milk. Catering wise we can provide a gas bbq to do your main cooking on outside on the patio area of your garden (on request) and a combination microwave is provided also inside. You can enjoy the country air and eat outside in the garden of your hut which includes table and chairs, wood store, plus an area to store your bikes. We do offer bike hire for £10 per day (please reserve them when you book) and can provide a yummy afternoon tea of scones, cream, & cream for £10. Dogs are very welcome (please see notes section for dog guests). There is a £10 per dog cleaning charge for dog guests (payable on arrival) and a £100 damage deposit for dog guests. As part of the farm guests have access to 80 acres of countryside land which currently has around 20 horses liveried on it. The bridle paths run across our land and we have a sand school, lunge pen and walker for horse visitors. The two fishing lakes/ponds are stocked with carp so bring your rods in the summer and enjoy the peace. Bring your horses and we'll provide a paddock or stable for them to stay in whilst you rest. Horse paddocks at £35 per horse per night including hay (spring summer Autumn only). Or bring your bikes. We live in the farm house which is adjacent to the hut but we very much want you to have your own privacy in your fenced garden so if you need us we are nearby! It is a working farm which primarily has horses on grassland so there will be tractors and horse owners around the farm too and it can get muddy in the winter so bring your wellies if you want to walk. We are blessed with having great links as well as living in a lovely rural area. In walking distance from the farm there is Hollybeck garden centre where you can enjoy a cooked breakfast through to afternoon tea. Keen cyclists can enjoy the bridle paths or road cycling to Hallam, Thurgarton or Epperstone. Epperstone has a lovely tea room Bumbles and an award winning pub - Cross Keys. Oxton Village has two lovely pubs a short drive down the hill, with the Old Bridge pub being dog friendly too. We are close to Sherwood Pines which has great sand tracks for bike and horse. And of course the stunning Minster town of Southwell which boasts many cafes, pubs, visitor attractions including the Racecourse, the Minster, choral events, The Workhouse, Southwell trail etc. Petrol stations are nearby in Southwell and Calverton. There is a large Co-op supermarket in Southwell plus a busy town centre. We also encourage visitors to use New Holbeck Farm organic milk machine (which also stocks Hambleton Hall bread) in Halam. Oxton has a good post office with supplies from newspapers to scotch eggs. Beyond is Nottingham and Newark (30 minutes away). Buses can be caught from Southwell or Calverton which can take you into Nottingham and further. Southwell is about a 3 mile road or mountain bike cycle. The local villages of Epperstone, Halam and Oxton are accessable by bike or car. By bike Epperstone takes 15 minutes to cycle there and 30 minutes to cycle back. It is a hill return but not too bad. There is a footpath to Epperstone and Thurgarton and it is about a 3/4 hour pleasant walk. Dogs Dogs are very welcome but we do have our own dogs so we do require that around the farm and yard your dogs are kept on a lead to avoid scuffles. Once away from the yard you are welcome to exercise them on the farm land. If you go out for the day leaving them in the hut, you must put them in a cage or one of our kennels to avoid them inadvertently damaging the hut (scratching or chewing). We can provide a cage if needed. There is an additional cleaning charge of £10 per dog (payable on arrival) for guests with dogs and a dog damage deposit of £100. (Refundable after visit) Please refrain from letting dogs sleep on the beds or blankets. Dog poop must be disposed of. None dog items! Please leave the hut as you found it i.e. clean and ready for the next visitor (apart from laundry of course). Please bring wellies or boots for around the farm as it can get muddy in winter. Please put boots/shoes on the tray by the door. Leave the key in the key lock on departure.
