Dougal's Cottage is a cosy tastefully decorated family and dog- friendly former Cornish Tin Miner's cottage with the advantage of wonderful sea views of the Atlantic ocean from the double bedroom and the long garden. The cottage is located in a quiet position in the middle of a row of traditional Cornish stone cottages in the thriving village of Pendeen between St Just and St Ives on the North Atlantic Coast. The coastal path runs through the village giving access to the ocean. and fabulous walks from the doorstep. There are two lovely beaches accessible from the village known as Boat Cove and Portheras Beach both of which are dog friendly. Sleeps 3/4 Guests This part of Cornwall benefits from a warmer climate than other parts of the county and boasts spectacular scenery making it an ideal choice for families , couples, four legged friends and walkers alike who will find themselves quickly seduced by the stunning coastline dotted with historic engine houses along the cliff face , fabulous beaches ,hidden coves and scenic drives , quaint village pubs and great restaurants too. There is much to do and see in this stunning unspoilt part of Cornwall which many of our guests enjoy discovering for themselves. There are two good pubs within walking distance from the cottage which are dog friendly as well as a village shop selling daily newspapers and a wide selection of food including locally produced meat ,milk , eggs, bread , fruit and veg etc and most everyday essentials guests might need .This area and surrounding villages have featured in the 'Poldark' tv series filming area. The writer Rosamunde Pilcher was born in the area and Dougal's Cottage is within easy reach of some of the Cornish villages that featured in two of her books ' The Shell Seekers' and 'Coming Home'- Lelant, Lamorna Cove, St Michael's Mount Dougal's Cottage has Super Fast Broadband Wifi and for guests staying for two weeks we offer a complimentary Housekeeping service and change of linen and towels at the end of the first week of your stay. The property offers one double bedroom sleeping two people with wonderful sea views and a single bedroom which has an Ikea pull out bed which can be made up into a double if required. The cottage is light and airy with freshly painted white walls throughout . Open the front door and you will step into the very useful lobby area where you can hang your coats and hats and park your foot wear The interior is furnished with a mix of contemporary and vintage pieces , some locally produced pottery complimented by artwork painted by Cornish artists dotted around the walls of the cottage. The sitting room has seating for four people with a blue and white striped Ikea sofa and two cream tub chairs , large mirror, coffee table etc . New Panasonic Smart 40 Inch Flatscreen Tv with Netflix button for guests to log into their own account plus Home button for Apps etc . Philips i pod dock cd player, board games and books, and a basket of leaflets to point guests in the right direction for things to do and places to see during their stay . This room also boasts the original granite Inglenook fireplace where there is a wood burner ideal for cosy evenings . We supply a starter pack for the Wood Burner. Both the sitting room and kitchen retain attractive Vintage floor tiles, the sitting room has a rug covering the area in front of the sofa and coffee table . There are two fitted stair gates in situ ,one at the bottom of the staircase leading to the bedrooms and the second at the doorway to the kitchen The eat in kitchen has double doors opening directly onto the patio area of the long grassed garden which makes life very easy if you want to eat outside where you will find a teak dining table and chairs set as well as a sun parasol .The kitchen reminds you that you that you are by the coast - splash back tiles and kitchen unit colour blue are all by Fired Earth. There is a deep ceramic Butler's style sink too . The kitchen is well equipped and we have tried to think of and supply most things that we would like to find ourselves in a holiday cottage including a Stellar stainless steel 8 cup cafetière. Upstairs there are the two light and airy bedrooms already mentioned which are next door to each other both with wood floors and fitted radiator . The double bedroom has a comfortable bed with fitted headboard open plan fitted shelves and hanging rail, chair, and wooden shutters opening to reveal stunning uninterrupted views of the fields and Atlantic Ocean beyond . The second bedroom has a comfortable Ikea single bed which pulls out into a double bed if required . Hanging rail , Vintage chest of drawers, chair , curtains with blackout lining, The cottage has a good size all white bathroom with bath and shower screen and wall mounted shower above , washbasin and lavatory , bath robe hooks, glass shelf . Towels and bathmat supplied. The bathroom is on the ground floor . Our changeover day is FRIDAY so please remember this when booking . We welcome your four legged friends to come on holiday with you and accept up to 2 small - medium well behaved dogs at no extra cost. Like many holiday cottage owners we also have a few doggy rules . We happily accept four legged friends on condition that they sleep in the kitchen and are not allowed upstairs into the bedrooms . If left alone at anytime during their stay we kindly ask that your dog/s is left in the kitchen please. Guests are politely asked to pick up after their four legged friend in the garden please . We are not able to accept Puppies. For two week bookings we offer a complimentary change of linen and towels and clean of the cottage which will be carried out on the Friday at the end of the first week at around 10 am. Please let us know if you would like this service provided before the date of your arrival. Our changeover day is FRIDAY and our ' self style check in ' enables guests to arrive anytime after 4 pm which means that you can arrive late at night which is a great way to beat the traffic!
