It is a perfect getaway location for couples of all ages and has great walks and cycle paths along the nearby Huddersfield Narrow Canal which nowadays carries leisure canal boats and leads right through the centre of Slaithwaite and onwards to Marsden and the Standedge tunnels beyond. The immediate area is great for walkers of all ages with easy walks along the scenic narrow canal to Slaithwaite and Marsden or for the more adventurous walks up into the Pennine Hills and Moors beyond. The local village, Slaithwaite, has many local businesses with cafes, pubs and restaurants and food takeaways catering to all dietary tastes and requirements and also caters well for anyone who prefers the `plant based` way of eating.
