Myrtles Cartshed - Cosy near countryside and coast
Located in this popular coastal area, our charming flint Cartshed is full of character. You’ll fall in love with the cosy, yet spacious, open plan layout for just the two of you. Beautifully renovated retaining original brick flooring, the mezzanine bedroom is tucked cleverly alongside original roof beams and is accessed by a sliding library ladder. A home away from home, it's comfortably furnished throughout with well equipped kitchenette, breakfast bar and full bookcase, desk and sofabed. Everyone is always astounded at how spacious the Cartshed is inside. Perhaps the exterior 'cuteness' deceives but once you step inside you'll feel the open plan living very inviting. The double bed in the cute mezzanine bedroom is tucked in under the pitch of the roof, so we describe this as small double due to the ‘snugness’ of the positioning for the second person. There is also a sofabed in the living room area if you'd prefer. The shower gets praised by guests, although compact, the pressure is just right to refresh and further relax! There is a beautifully planted private courtyard garden as well Street parking in the village. There is usually a parking space available on the road just near the Cartshed. You have your own entrance, and also a gate into your own private courtyard garden Personal checkin usually when it's not COVID. There are a wealth of things to do in and around Wenhaston: - Wenhaston Doom, in the St Peters Church, is a medieval wall painting that is unusual for having been painted on to wooden boards. Few other such Dooms have survived and indeed the story of the Wenhaston Doom is remarkable. - Southwold Golf Club is Southwold's own 9-hole golf course. Also open to non-members and visitors to enjoy their facilties. - The Electric Picture Palace in Southwold is a rather special bijou cinema (70 seats and organ) which shows a wide range of films. - Halesworth Cycle Routes. Surrounded by quiet country lanes and beautiful countryside, Halesworth is the ideal location for exploring this part of Suffolk by bike. Cyclists of all ages are welcome to join and enjoy guided rides. - Dunwich Museum is the perfect history experience for all the family. It tells the amazing story of a city lost to the sea. - RSPB Minsmere Nature Reserve. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds works for wildlife as well as birds. Shop and tea room open to the public. Free car park. - Also Latitude Festival in late July ever year in nearby Henham Park, if you fancy the music but not the camping! Bus stops located along the main village street in Wenhaston. Services to Halesworth, route number 99A, (East Suffolk Line train station), Southwold, Lowestoft and local villages. Halewsorth to London Liverpool Street is around 2 hours. The Cart shed is next door to Myrtles Cottage (grade 2 listed) which was once the village store, hence the bow window. Myrtles can also be booked in case you are having a larger get together, so do enquire.
