Romantic retreat in the countryside

Former cowshed, this cosy dwelling has been completely rebuilt and kitted out with a goal to being carbon neutral. It is an intimate one bedroom retreat with central suspended fireplace, modern underfloor heating and solar water heating. Luxury and comfort are assured with dishwasher and washer/dryer, and the setting is completely private for the perfect romantic getaway. We renovated this former outbuilding with a view to the project being as ecologically friendly as possible. We have avoided materials such as plastics and paints wherever possible; there is a high level of insulation, solar powered hot water and a geothermal heat pump provides exceptional comfort through underfloor heating. There is a beautiful suspended fireplace and logs are provided - these are sourced onsite and seasoned to ensure they are fully dry. There is a small south facing patio overlooking our fruit trees and the property is completely standalone and private. The house is completely standalone and there is plenty of parking onsite, just behind the house itself. There is a decorative garden and a small patio. We ask guests to please respect our privacy, as we respect theirs. There are sometimes people staying in the main house at the end of the drive, but the main contact will be the lady who handles the cleaning and upkeep of the property. If needed, we can be reached by phone in an emergency. This is a very rural location, ideal for a retreat from modern life. the house is set in its own garden with parking and a sun soaked patio. We are 5 kms from the nearest small town (Caumont sur Aure) where you will find the local supermarket. There is also a small bakery and convenience store, as well as a butcher, in Cormolain - a neighbouring village 3 kms away. We are also fortunate to have a local restaurant pizzeria in Sallen itself - in the centre of the village and 3 kms away (Website hidden by Airbnb) for details. We are (very) far from public transportation and a vehicle is needed to get almost everywhere - including to the bakery and the local pizzeria. Rural tranquility means just that - it is very tranquil and very rural. There is plenty of onsite parking. The property is in the countryside and, as such, we occasionally encounter unexpected aromas when the local farmers spread organic matter on the fields. This is part and parcel of the countryside and is, in any case, completely outside our control. We do provide free internet. It is, however, on a fair use basis and uses satellite technology - it can be slower than you are used to, and heavy use is discouraged.
