Peak District Country House

Beautiful country house situated down a 250m private drive on the outskirts of the village of Tansley. On the hillside below Riber Castle the property is surrounded by horse pastures and farmland. There are stunning views from every window. The house was completely renovated in 2018 with the input of an interior architect to an extremely high standard. Many of the original Victorian features have been retained and stylishly combined with a super modern kitchen and bathrooms. You have sole use of well equipped kitchen. Spacious sitting room, three good sized bedrooms and two bathrooms. Much emphasis has been placed on sustainability, you will find examples of clever and quirky upcycling as you explore the rooms. Eco friendly, the house is heated by a ground source heat pump and is kept deliciously cosy with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor in addition to a log burner in the sitting room and radiators upstairs. Dog friendly you have a private garden. Access to the garden as well as their own space, plenty of parking available on the property. Caroline lives on site, so is at hand to give you advice and tips. You may meet Meena her cat, but you are certain to meet her dog, Maddie, who is probably the friendliest dog in Tansley if not the whole of Derbyshire. The resident horses Tilly and Molly also welcome visitors and never refuse carrots or mints. Wonderful secluded rural location, views of surrounding hills and fields, below Riber Castle hillside. Footpaths on the doorstep leading to a wonderful network of local walks. You are within walking distance of 2 pubs (both of which serve food) and a Sri Lankan/Italian restaurant (which does take-aways). A car is recommended, however can arrange collection from Matlock Train Station, within 10mins drive subject to availability with prior arrangement. The property is rural, within 5 minutes walk of the village. A short drive takes you to Matlock town with its picturesque park, lovely walks, shops, cafes etc. Matlock Bath with its many attractions, including The Heights of Abraham and Gullivers Kingdom is also close by. What’s more, the Peak District National Park with all its attractions as well as Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, is just a 15 min drive away.
