We have carefully furnished the house with high quality beds,bedding & furniture with guest comfort and relaxation in mind. The private garden and patio area at the back of the house is a great for Al fresco meals and relaxation (Weather permitting !). A spacious conservatory provides a further seating area . New smart TV's have been installed in the master bedroom, the lounge and the kitchen. parking for 2 cars off road We aim to provide a home from home & look forward to welcoming or guests. We've tried to provide all the amenities that we think our guest will need for a comfortable stay. This includes iron and ironing board and hairdryer. A travel cot is also available. We provide tea coffee milk and sugar so you can make yourself at home as soon as you arrive . We live a short drive away from the property and will be available by telephone should we be needed. Our property is within walking distance of several very popular Wedding venues including • South Causey Wedding 1 minute by car , 6 minutes wallk • Black Horse 1 minute by car • The Beamish Park Hotel 3 minutes by car • Beamish Hall Hotel 3 minutes by car There are also three pubs within the same area – ideal for a bar meal and drinks. The closest are • Ball Alley • The Blue Bell • The Causey Arch The Black Horse is also a pub (as well as wedding venue) and also boats a classic car collection. A little further away the village of Beamish boasts a traditional country pub (The Shepherd and Shepherdess) and two lovely restaurants one Indian and one Italian. All 5 minutes by car. Ala Spicery and Il Cancello Other notable landmarks in the area but a little further afield include: • Beamish Open Air Museum is a 5 minute car drive away • The Riverside Cricket Ground Chester le Street, home of Durham County CC which hosts both international cricket and top class music events • Lumley Castle Hotel ( which overlooks the above)- also a popular wedding venue • Tanfield Heritage Steam Railway – this runs the Santa Express to the North Pole ( during the festive season) • Tanfield Village – mentioned in the Magna carta – small village with Tearoom and pub – that hosts an annual Scarecrow Festival late summer/early autumn • The Causey Arch- the oldest surviving single arch railway bridge in the world (Roman times) – Where there is also a tearoom. It is possible to walk to this from the house. Lovely country walks. • Gibside Victorian Pleasure Gardens and Chapel run by the National Trust. Other attractions within the locality but further afield are: • Durham City and it's world heritage Cathedral and Castle, Botanic Gardens and Oriental Museum • The Metrocentre (Europe's largest shopping centre + cinema complex) • The Angel of the North – Anthony Gormley sculpture • The Sage and The Baltic on Gateshead Quays concert and gallery venues • One the other side of the Tyne River... • Newcastle upon Tyne City Centre with a vast array of shopping, entertainment and nightlife • And of course St James’ Park – Newcastle United Football Ground Travel a bit further North and Northumberland with its fabulous unspoilt beaches and landscapes, The Farne Islands and Hadrian's Wall as well as castles – including Alnwick (featured in the Harry Potter movies), Bamburgh, Warkworth, and Dunstanburgh are within easy reach There are several National Trust properties in this area such as Cragside, Wallington Hall, and Lindisfarne (Holy Island) Heading South from the property places to visit include • Washington Wildfowl and Wetland Centre • Sunderland Museums, Winter Gardens and National Glass Centre • South Tyneside seaside resorts including South Shields and Whitburn • The Stadium of Light – Sunderland Football Ground • Bowes Museum • Barnard Castle And many more ………… The house is close to a main route to local areas which is served by local buses. There is a bus stop very close to the house. There are several lovely country walks in the area. The town of Stanley has a main shopping centre with a large Asda and and Aldi as well as other local shops. There are several takeaways in the area plus the recent addition of a Macdonalds. Between each booking the house is given a thorough and deep clean Hand sanitiser gel and antibacterial solutions are provide for guest peace of mind and infection control
