La Grairie - peaceful, rural comfort

La Grairie is set in a small hamlet, surrounded by fields and networks of quiet and unspoilt lanes which make it a great place to relax and unwind in the peaceful surroundings. As well as many beautiful beaches and historic towns within easy reach, the area is rich in D-Day history. The market town of Carentan is only 7km away, where all amenities can be found. The cottage is detached and adjacent to the owner’s house; we are on hand to help should you need it, but certainly not to intrude. Downstairs is the open-plan living area which leads out to the private and enclosed back garden. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower cubicle. In the garden there is a small patio with seating for 6 people, and we provide a BBQ with a bucket of charcoal. To help you relax, there are 2 sun-loungers for you to use. The garden overlooks the orchard, where you are free to wander and maybe meet the ponies and our friendly goats. We provide a welcome pack to get you started, which includes organic cider from our orchard and some local Camembert. The kitchen is fully equipped with kettle, coffee machine, toaster, microwave, fridge and washing machine. If you feel energetic, we have 2 adult bikes available which you are free to borrow. Although we are in a rural location, we are only 1km from the main road, which means all local attractions are easily accessible. Whether you spend your time out and about, enjoying some of the many attractions in the area, or just prefer lazy days in the garden, there really is something for everyone at La Grairie. We offer you a warm welcome here at La Grairie. We are on hand to help if you need us, but certainly not to intrude. The gite and its back garden are entirely private and the front parking area is shared with our house. We are within easy reach of miles of beautiful, sandy beaches - you really will be spoilt for choice! There is much WW2 and D-Day history in the area and the D-Day landing beaches are nearby, the closest being Utah Beach which is 20 minutes away. The nearest bakery for your fresh baguette and croissants is 2 miles away. Here you will also find a village shop, pharmacy, butchers and a local bar. Carentan is a lovely market town less than 10 minutes away, with a good selection of shops including several big supermarkets and an excellent Monday market. Please note: the staircase is open-tread. We only have English tv channels available, but there is a radio available, and WiFi throughout the Gite. There is a child safety gate at the top of the stairs. A 10% discount applies for bookings of only 2 people.
