The Annexe, Pastures Farm, Grendon
After two years away from welcoming guests to our farm we have taken the decision this year to jump back on board and open our doors once again . Originally our annexe was designed as a farm office but it was far too beautiful so we decided to share it with house guests! Overlooking gardens and fields, with its attic styled ceiling our guests can enjoy a truly relaxing and authentic stay in a traditional farmhouse complete with a traditional farmhouse breakfast, well you'd expect nothing else! Pastures Farm may be a busy working farm, but we do love welcoming guests and getting to know you! From the minute you arrive through your own dedicated door to the annexe, you know that the peace and tranquility of the surrounding countryside awaits. Our annexe is light, airy and simply but comfortably furnished, there is a small private loo and wash hand basin en suite, and of course a kettle for your early morning cuppa. Downstairs is a spacious washroom, access to which is via the utility room. Plenty of towels are available. Because we want our guests to really enjoy their stay with us, we encourage them to make the most of our gardens and our pretty rustic shed aka Skinners Inn. Guests are more than welcome to sit in there in the evening and while away their time away from televisions, and screens. We have two friendly dogs, Hattie a black Labrador and Dizzy a rather nutty terrier. Being a farmhouse, breakfast is served in our spacious farmhouse kitchen, giving guests the opportunity to really experience what our day to day lives are all about. Sadly we simply are not geared up for children and infants and are unable to accommodate them - Sorry! A few years ago now, part of the farm was designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The 27 acre area consists of a reedbed and wetland and is the home to many unusual species of birds. A twenty minute circular walk has been created to enable visitors to enjoy all the beauty associated with this particular SSSI. On one of my many lockdown walks in 2020 I was lucky enough to come across an otter - so the quieter your are the more likely you will see something exciting. We are ideally located for numerous countryside walks including the Nene Way. Pastures Farm is situated on the edge of the fabulous historic Castle Ashby Estate with its small rural shopping yard containing a selection of delightful independent shops as well as the superb, recently refurbished Falcon Hotel. In addition, Cogenhoe with the Royal Oak Pub has a village shop which stocks all the essentials, whilst the historic village of Earls Barton (5 minuts by car) is certainly worth a visit not least because of its ancient Saxon church. And if you fancy whiling away your time then a visit to White Mills Marina with its award winning boathouse cafe is a lovely walk away. We look forward to welcoming you! Guests have their own private access and key There is as much or as little interaction with guests as desired. Although we are a very friendly bunch here. The nearby villages of Castle Ashby, Grendon, Cogenhoe and Earls Barton are fantastically located. Not only are they surrounded by open fields, but are really close to the major road networks which means nowhere is ever very far. The delightful market town of Olney with its regular Thursday market and monthly farmers market is a pretty 15 to 20 minute drive away. The equally lovely towns of Market Harborough and Oundle are around 30 - 45 , minutes away. We have a fantastic train service to St Pancras from Wellingborough and Northampton station with its line to Euston and Birmingham. All in all we are very central indeed, but fortunately we can still hear plenty of bird song throughout the day. The railway stations of Northampton and Wellingborough with direct links to London are around a 15 to 20 minute drive away. There are excellent bus links from Earls Barton to Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Corby and Northampton Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate babies, children or pets.
