My little cottage is a fantastically welcoming and homely space, simple and cosy (if a bit scuffed round the edges). It's right in the beautiful village of Hathersage, within ten minutes' walk of the railway station and the famous outdoor swimming pool (book in advance). Buses to Sheffield run frequently from a bus stop five minutes away, the famous climbs of Stanage are a ten minute drive, and the infinite walks of the Peak District start right on the doorstep. It's a very small and homely cottage, not a modern space. It's not the Ritz, but it's clean and welcoming. It's our home some of the time, so it feels lived-in and we love it. There is free WiFi, coffee and tea for you to use, and everything you need to make yourselves comfortable. We hope you'll love it as we do. There is (shock horror) NO TV! On-street parking is not guaranteed - it's often bagged by visiting cyclists and walkers - but it's almost always available by teatime. We do need you to arrive BETWEEN 11.00 AND 3.00 owing to commitments of our own. Please don't ask if you can check in later, I'm afraid the answer will be no! The whole cottage is yours, except for the spare room where we keep all the paint pots, rubbish and out-of-season objects we don't need for the moment. Hathersage is really one of the Peak District's jewels. The best walks and climbs in the Peak District are literally on the doorstep. Three pubs (one posh, one good family pub, one for snooker-and Sky) and a new restaurant and wine bar - two good curry houses, one cafe serving great hearty ramblers' food, and three fine outdoor stores - plus easy access to Sheffield, Manchester and everywhere in the Peak. It really is a lovely place. Great greengrocer, bakery and above all the famous Hathersage Outdoor Pool which is heated, so you can swim in it nearly all year round. The pool has regular music nights so you can swim as the band plays! Regular buses to Sheffield (about twenty minutes away) or to Castleton (where the Blue John caves are, and many great walks) leave from the village centre, five minutes walk away. The train station is a ten minute walk, giving access to the famously beautiful Manchester-Sheffield line which stops at many villages in the heart of the Peak District such as Edale and Bamford. Several times a year in the summer, folk bands play on the train.
