This is a large spacious house. Two twin rooms and one double room, each with en-suite toilet and shower room. The kitchen diner is open plan and can seat up to 8. Included is a full- size dishwasher and range cooker, filter coffee machine, kettle, microwave, slow cooker, crockery cutlery, glasses, pots, serving dishes, casserole pots, fridge freezer with water dispenser. There is a large bright comfortable lounge at the rear of the house with seating and Smart TV. This old house is very spacious. It is very well appointed and decorated in a contemporary style.Right in the heart of Port Ellen it is perfect for walking to pubs,restaurants, shops and public transport. Close by are beaches and fabulous walks. Within 3.5 miles are the iconic Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg Distilleries. It is 3 minutes walk from the ferry port. Guests are free to use the whole house, the drying green, the laundry shed and the seating area at the rear of the garden. Parking is available at the front of the house on Charlotte Street. There is a patio with outdoor seating. Either myself or John will be available to help you with any problems, questions or queries. There is a folder of information about the house and Islay in the kitchen. Port Ellen is a peaceful, beautiful village situated on the south of Islay. If you are interested in malt whisky, there are three iconic distilleries along the coast, all within 3.5 miles of the village. A foot and cycle path will take you to all three. For walking and wildlife, you will find miles of amazing coastline and beaches. Look out for golden eagles, wild goats, deer and otters. We recommend eating out Ardbeg Distillery for lunch. Dinner at The Machrie Hotel, The Islay Hotel and Seasalt Bistro for dinner. The bus stop is almost opposite the house on Charlotte Street. There is a regular bus service to all the villages on the island. The pier is 2 minutes walk from the house. There are several taxi services available on the island. Parking is available in front of the house or nearby. We would recommend that all guests if travelling by ferry contact Calmac prior to travelling to check on the status of the sailing you are booked on or download the calmac app. Travel insurance would be recommended as sailings and flights can be cancelled at short notice due to weather conditions. If your sailing is delayed or cancelled, please let us know.
