Petworth rural retreat
Spacious self contained unit with all mod cons situated in the South Downs National Park, an International Dark Sky Reserve (IDSR), so great for stargazing. Sleeps two - the bed is King size. Handy for Goodwood and Cowdray Polo. Within walking distance of a great pub 'The Stag' and on the edge of Sussex Wildlife Trust's Ebernoe Common. Self contained unit accessed by brick stairs at the rear of the property. A small kitchen area in the main living area enables you to self cater. We provide some milk, tea and coffee. The room has an integrated fridge, small oven and microwave (not visible in photos), kettle, toaster and two ring induction hob. An ensuite shower room has a hand basin, loo, and shower plus a heated towel rail. The room sleeps two and the bed is King size and the loft style means there are sloping ceilings. The wireless signal is not very strong in the room so the space is not suitable to use as an online work space but the iplayer does work. Guest are welcome to sit in an area of the garden during their stay. A small garden table and chairs are available to use. It’s away from the house so quite private and it has views westwards across the fields. The perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner. Access to the room is via a flight of brick stairs. Please no muddy boots in the room and if you bring your dog we'd be grateful if they stayed off the furniture. The garden is not secure so if you bring your dog please keep it in sight or on a lead to avoid it running on the road. No smoking in and around the property and no other guest visitors during your stay. We live in the main house and should be around to meet you. Our home is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of England. This part of West Sussex is full of history. The National Trust's 'Petworth House' is nearby and is home to paintings by 'Turner' (it was one of the locations for the recent film). Petworth itself is a busy town and a mecca for antique lovers boasting a huge number of shops. It also has an Award Winning Deli 'The Hungry Guest' as well as a number of coffee shops a great bookshop, card shop and other eateries. Popular with walkers the countryside has many footpaths and bridleways. You can walk from our home down to the local pub for a hearty meal and a pint of Sussex Ale. Further afield in Midhurst the award winning 'Cowdray Farm Shop & Cafe' is a real treat. The Shop offers a range of delicious produce, much of it local, whilst the Cafe serves amazing homecooked food. Cowdray is also the home of Polo and the season runs from April until September. Goodwood is about 20 minutes drive away. The Festival of Speed, The Revival Festival plus the horse racing make it an excellent place to visit. A little further afield is the Cathedral City of Chichester with it's world famous 'Chichester Festival Theatre' which hosts some incredible plays with some of the country's best actors. And if it's the beach you are after West Wittering is a fabulous place to visit. It's about 45 minutes drive away. Our property is on a road but we have no neighbours. In fact you can only see one house from ours in the winter and none in the Summer. You will need a car to visit us. We are situated on a B road. It's not the busiest of roads but cars do whizz by.
