Ideal for retreats and relaxation, surrounded by beautiful farmland in an area of ancient habitation with Ley lines running through the land. The spacious & secluded yurt , cooking tent, washroom, sleeps up to a maximum of 4, this gives you all plenty of room. In the countryside but close to shops, restaurants & amenities. Amazing views & excellent walking directly from the property. Close to Oxford, the Thames, with good road & rail connections it is a great location to explore Oxfordshire. Our beautiful yurt is ideally located in gorgeous countryside yet close to a host of interesting places with miles of walking directly from the door. It is situated in a self-contained position with its own log cabin shower room and a large fully equipped cooking tent. The loudest noise you are likely to hear are birds singing. This tranquil spot is in nature and apart from seeing a robin or a red kite, you might be greeted by a deer or a fox when you open the door, a perfect place for unwinding, grounding & meditating. (More details in OTHER DETAILS to Note). For a number of reasons under 18's & pets are not considered. The yurt is 22ft in diameter, lovingly hand-painted direct from Mongolia. It is properly insulated to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer with four layers of fabrics including felted wool and canvas. There is a damp proofed wooden floor covered with coir & rugs with electricity for light and heat. Furnishings are cosy and can be modified to suit you. A selection of beds and large cushions offer a flexibility of sleeping arrangements. Bedding, bed-linen and towels are NOT provided. If this presents a problem for guests from overseas, please contact us prior to booking. The log cabin shower room has mains water, drainage and all the usual facilities including an electric shower, light and heat. You bring your own towels. The kitchen is a large field tent with a gas barbecue, extra gas rings, a fridge and is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking pots and pans. There is plenty of room and seating to eat undercover or outside as weather permits. Fantastic views are a superb feature of Haddon Acre and you can walk for miles without touching a road. Explore the Nature Reserve, Arboretum and Wittenham Clumps straight from the yurt door. You can walk to the Thames or historic Dorchester Abbey within an hour. The Local Area page gives you details of many of the places of interest within easy reach. We might have forgotten to mention we are only about 50 miles from London and very easy to reach by train or car. If birdwatching is not your thing, why not try angling, cycling, boating or riding on a steam train. It is all local. If you need to keep in touch, free Wi-Fi is available and most mobile networks work well. Your vehicle can be parked as close to the yurt as you like. You will be very welcome to visit us at Haddon Acre. The garden and "yard" all around the Yurt, shower room and cooking tent is all self contained for the Yurt guests. Parking is adjacent to the Yurt. If guests have friends who want to pitch a tent or two and share the amenities the cost is £20 per night per tent - prior booking is essential. The gardens immediately around our house are generally for our use unless guests are invited. We love to chat with our guests and make sure they have everything for their comfort but the Yurt "complex" is quite exclusive and can be self contained as much as the guests wish. The countryside which surrounds Haddon Acre and the Yurt is beautiful, magical and typically English. The field adjacent to the property is a designated wild flower meadow where the sheep graze with their lambs in the Spring. Other fields are planted with crops and grass but this does not disrupt walking for miles directly from the Yurt to the ancient Wittenham Clumps hill fort and far beyond. Ley lines (energy lines) run through the land and a Roman settlement was situated here. The peace and tranquillity is always commented on together with the wild birds who love this place, often there are 10 Red Kites soaring on the thermals. Alas there is no public transport passing the property although a bus route to Oxford and Reading is just a mile away. The mainline railway station Didcot Parkway to London is only a 10 minute car ride and Airport transport via bus or rail is easy. As mentioned earlier our magical Yurt is constructed on our land on the site of a Roman settlement & Ley Lines run, the energies are very special. It is an ideal place for retreat, reflection, meditation , Mindfulness, yoga, Tai-Chi etc or to bring your own musical instrument, many a song has been written here. Local practitioners in these disciplines are happy to join a small group for guidance. Local take-away food can also be purchased & delivered from a variety of establishments including vegan.
