Our self-catering annex is entirely self-contained and has its own front door. There is plenty of off road parking space on our drive. The ground floor has a very spacious double bedroom with plenty of wardrobe space, a shower room, hall, lounge and kitchen. Upstairs there is a lounge with a sofa bed, table and chairs, tv and DVD player. The kitchen is upstairs and is accessed from the lounge. There is free wifi through the property. You will be able to access the whole of the self-catering annex except for a small number of cupboards and a small boxroom, all of which are clearly marked. You will also be able to use the outdoor patio area in front of the annex. The annex is beside our house and there is normally somebody around. I am happy to be contacted at any time with any questions about the property or the local area. However, if you prefer to be left alone, that is fine too. Colby is a small village in the south of the Isle of Man. It has a church, a shop, a pub, a railway station and several bus-stops. It also has access to the Colby glen, a beautiful wooded area by a river which is popular with walkers. A ten-minute drive or bus ride to the south are the two villages of Port Erin and Port St Mary each of which has a range of shops, beaches and scenic coastal walks. A ten-minute drive or bus ride to the north is Castletown. The ancient capital of the Island, with a fine medieval castle and other heritage attractions, Castletown is also the home of the Southern 100 motorcycle club which stages the pre-TT Classic and other events on the 4-mile Billown Circuit. To walk from the property to the corner of the Billown Circuit takes about 40 minutes. A half-hour drive to the north (or an hour by bus) is Douglas, the Island's capital. Here you will find the start and finish line of the Mountain Course, for over 100 years has been the stage of the world's premier motorcycle road racing event, the Isle of Man TT. The property is a ten minute drive to the Isle of Man airport, and a half hour drive from the ferry port of Douglas. The the nearest bus stop is a ten minute walk from the property. Buses run throughout the year and go to the airport, ferry port and other towns and villages including Douglas, Castletown, Port Erin and Port St Mary. The Steam Railway station is also a ten minute walk from the property. Steam trains serve the same destinations as the buses. They run only in the summer season and are both slower and less frequent than the buses. Taxis are available but should be booked well in advance, especially during motorcycle racing periods. The Spar Shop in Colby sells food, drinks, newspapers and other essentials. It is normally open until 10pm. Next to the shop is the Colby Glen Hotel, a pub which serves hot food in the evenings. It is advisable to contact the pub to check the times at which food will be available. The bedroom and shower room are on the ground floor. The lounge and kitchen are upstairs on the first floor.
