The Village of Loreto Aprutino Loreto Aprutino is a small village in the Pescara region of Abruzzo, Italy. This modern town has a medieval past. It grew up around a castle and Benedictine abbey sometime in the early 11th century. Situated in the Abruzzo hills, Loreto Aprutino yields breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside including olive orchards and expansive meadows. A narrow street winds through the many charming dwellings that make up the historic district which invite visitors to take long strolls and explore the enticing stairways, arches and pathways. Perched atop the village, the historic, refurbished Castle, Castello Chiola, beckons visitors to enter its majestic doorway and enjoy dinner and drinks at their restaurant and bar. A short walk from the castle is a basilica with picturesque views and an authentic gothic-style Olive Oil Museum. Although the museum is currently closed for restoration, it is still a worthy scene to behold.
