Nostalgic Fire Tower Lookout at base of Schweitzer
Do you have adventure in your heart? Perched atop a cliff, this nostalgic fire lookout home is for those that want to explore the mountains, stargaze at night, and unplug from the world. Nestled at the base of Schweitzer Mountain, this home’s modern design was based on National Park architecture. This one-of-a-kind structure rises more than 60 feet above a granite cliff in order to capture the captivating views of the Cabinet Mountains, town of Sandpoint, and Lake Pend Oreille. This home will still give you all the amenities you enjoy such as a Smart TV in the bedroom, wi-fi, wood burning stove, wood pellet grill, and a telescope to check out the stars, planets and International Space Station as it rotates around us. We also provide a vintage record player with 60's and 70's classic albums to mellow out to after a long hike or day of moutain biking. This home is truly special! Did I mention adventure? You will need a 4x4 or AWD to drive up to this home on the gravel driveway. You may park at the lower house and hike up to the home (2 minute walk) if it looks too daunting. But we promise it is all worth it once you take in the views! Especially sitting in our two person hot tub that overlooks the valley. The city of Sandpoint is known for trains so you'll hear the train whistle from the valley below. Personally we enjoy trains so it hasn't been a concern for us but if you're not used to it you can use the A/C or "white noise" player in the bedroom to muffle the train whistles at night. **Sorry no pets or children as there is a tight spiral staircase between the two floors. There is a wider exterior staircase that can be used as well.**
