Quaint Railway Cottage Stay in Godalming
A charming and quaint cottage set near the Surrey Hills in the quiet town of Milford. Only a stones throw away from Milford station with a direct line to London Waterloo and a 5 minute drive to the cobbled streets of Godalming. Surrounded by country pubs, great walks and cycle routes, this cottage is the perfect country escape from the hustle and bustle of London, to the peaceful surroundings of Surrey. The Cottage has three well appointed bedrooms, and is the perfect stay for a small family or a couples retreat! The cottage stable door enters onto a beautiful open plan kitchen, equipped with a large fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. There are two cosy seating areas, a warm and comfortable lounge with large patio doors opening onto the front garden. The dining area is warmed by central heating and a log burner. There is a large garden, separated into three parts with out houses and parking for three cars. Guests will have access to the whole property, besides the Summer house and garage lock up. Guest can use the car port and drive to park their cars. Shirley is on hand for calls throughout your stay! The house is for you to use at your peril but if you do have any issues/concerns, Shirley will be around to assist. Milford station is 300 feet away from the house, with a direct train line to Portsmouth or Waterloo. This helps tremendously if you don't have a car and are looking to explore the local area. Enjoy a game of golf at the stunning Milford Golf Club or wander into Milford village, only a 10 minute walk from the property. Milford offers a great pub for food and drinks - The Refectory. It also hosts a local Tesco Express and Co Op, a large garden centre which offers a Sunday farmers market and fruit picking, as well as a couple of antique and home interior shops. Towards Hambledon, you can settle in for the evening at the Merry Harriers pub, or venture further a field for 5* food at Inn on the Lake or enjoy the summer sun by the river at The Stag on the River. Hop on the train or in a car to wander the old cobbled high street of Guildford. Dine in their great restaurants or visit the Cathedral and castle grounds. Alternatively, if you're like Shirley, join the Godalming VC cycle group every Saturday and Sunday for 80km rides around the Surrey Hills, ending up in the Dabbling Duck cafe in Shere - the film location of Bridget Jones, the Holiday and The Wedding Date. If you're a real film buff, you can even visit Farnham to re live Gladiator, London Road to hang out like Harry and Ron in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire or take a stroll along Thursley Common to visit James Bond's 'home' in Skyfall It is best to have a car to see everything, but if you are travelling without a car, Milford Station has a direct line into London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour which allows you access to all nearby towns; Godalming, Guildford, Haslemere, Farnham and Portsmouth and Southsea, where you can hop on the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Other public transport routes include buses from Guildford bus station or Woking which has a direct bus to Heathrow. Gatwick Airport can be accessed by train via Clapham Junction and takes an hour door to door. Alternatively, both London airports are a 45 minute drive from the property.
