New Luxury Rural Guesthouse near Oundle & Stamford

Sandyforth Guesthouse is a brand new, contemporary, self-contained 2 bedroom apartment with a homely feel, described as a 'perfect countryside escape'. With it's fully-fitted, state of the art kitchen, high-end bathroom and luxurious Brook+Wilde beds, you are in for a relaxing and comfortable stay! Set in large gardens we are also within easy reach of Rutland, Huntingdon and Cambridge; the ideal location for families or friends to explore the best the English countryside has to offer. The guesthouse is bright and airy with unobstructed countryside views throughout, situated alongside, but separate to our home, with it's own private staircase entrance, and electric heating supplied via air-source renewable energy. The open-plan kitchen/diner/lounge is fully equipped with oven, steam oven, fridge-freezer, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and washer-dryer, along with the necessary cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and glassware to easily enjoy your own cooking. The dining and lounge areas comfortably seat 4, with your choice to unwind with a book, boardgame or entertainment via the brand new smart TV. The main bedroom boasts a queen size bed, plenty of storage/hanging space and outstanding views. The second bedroom has comfortable twin beds with storage/hanging space, and the same fantastic views. The spacious, contemporary bathroom is fitted with brand new basin, toilet and large shower. Bedding and towels are provided, with a cot and high chair available upon request, and high-speed Wifi throughout. The property requires only electricity, with no gas supplied on-site, so there is no requirement for a carbon-monoxide detector. We are situated half a mile outside of the quaint village of Glapthorn, with a stunning local church, and many walking, cycle and bridle routes to enjoy on our doorstep. The nearby, beautiful stone built market town of Oundle offers many unique shops, bars, restaurants & regular markets, with the beautiful grounds of the world-renowned Oundle School nestled throughout the town. Barnwell Country Park is a beautiful and tranquil place to visit offering kayak hire for a trip down the river or an enjoyable and tranquil cycle ride down the country roads and tracks, both Kayaks and bicycles are available to hire from Trek Kits in Oundle. Burghley House, Stamford is just a half an hour car journey away, the historic house is open to the public during the spring and summer months. The annual horse trials are held there in September. Nearby Rutland Water is a lovely place to visit within three quarters of an hour, for walkers, cyclists or anyone wanting to experience the water sports offered there. Water sport enthusiasts are spoiled for choice in this area as there is also Tallington Lakes and Ferry Meadows, Peterborough 25 minutes away, where you can hire sailing dinghies and wind surfers. Ferry meadows has an old fashioned steam train that is operating during the spring and summer for those who wish to take a nostalgic step back in time. Horse riding is available from a riding establishment close to Ferry Meadows. Elton Hall is 10 minutes car journey from Glapthorn, they host music festivals and events throughout the year. We are also close to the music festival held at Abbots Ripton in July each year called the Secret Garden Party. All in all the area hosts a huge variety of events and facilities for the outgoing visitor, alternatively those who wish to just relax and take a saunter through the beautiful and ancient local villages will be able to enjoy a stay here. We hope to see you soon! The guesthouse is self contained, with it's own private staircase at the rear of the property. Guests can enjoy ample car parking on the driveway and access to the garden to make the most of the evening sun. My husband and I live in the main part of the house, so should usually be contactable by mobile if needed, and are happy to help ensure you enjoy your stay! We are quietly set in the rolling hills of the Nothamptonshire countryside, with only one other house and farmlands as neighbours! The surrounding area has multiple quaint villages of similar size and beauty all situated within easy reach of the local town of Oundle. Visit the Talbot hotel with the famous staircase that Mary queen of Scots walked down and Fotheringhay Castle where she was beheaded to name just a couple of interesting points. Peterborough and Corby train stations are within easy reach by taxi, with direct trains to London, and further afield, however it is recommend to have the use of a car to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
